Friday’s Best MLB Underdog Fantasy Player Predictions
Ty France HIGHER 0.5 Total Bases (0.75x)
Ty France is a reliable hitter against lefties. According to FanGraphs, in 588 plate appearances against lefties since 2021, he’s had a .287 batting average, .333 BABIP, 18.5 K% and 26.2 LD%. Since last season, John Means has held 104 righties to a .184 batting average. However, he’s needed an unsustainable .190 BABIP and had an underwhelming 16.3 K% against right-handed batters. FantasyPros projects France will have 0.98 hits tonight.
Mitch Garver HIGHER 1.5 Total Bases (Scorcher 1.2x)
Means’s low strikeout rate against righties could bite him in the butt against Mitch Garver. In 287 plate appearances against lefties since 2021, Garver has muscled up for 12 doubles and 15 homers with a .267 batting average, .504 slugging and .238 ISO.

Josh Lowe HIGHER 1.5 Total Bases (Scorcher 1.1x)
Josh Lowe is cooking with gasoline. In 38 plate appearances this season, he has a .294 batting average, .295 xBA, .588 slugging, .545 xSLG, .294 ISO, four doubles and two homers. Lowe has had over 1.5 total bases in four of his past five games.
He’s also a stud with the platoon advantage on the road. In 323 career plate appearances against righties on the road, Lowe has hit 19 doubles, two triples and 18 homers with a .305 batting average, .566 slugging and .261 ISO. Chris Bassitt is also dreadful against lefties. The 492 lefties who’ve faced Bassitt since last season have had a .275 batting average and .515 slugging.
Joey Ortiz HIGHER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
Joey Ortiz has excelled in his first season on the Brewers. In 112 plate appearances, he has a .277 batting average, .264 xBA, .511 slugging, .427 xSLG and .234 ISO. Ortiz has also tallied a .384 OBP, 13 runs and 12 RBI. He’s also had over 1.5 hits plus runs and RBI in three consecutive starts and five of his past seven.
Ortiz can stay hot in a Charmin-soft matchup. In eight appearances (seven starts) spanning 32.1 innings this season, Hunter Brown has a 7.79 ERA, 4.36 xERA and 4.11 SIERA. Since last season, the 423 righties who’ve faced Brown have had a .375 wOBA. As a result, FantasyPros projects Ortiz will have 3.0 hits plus runs and RBI tonight.
