Wednesday’s Best MLB Underdog Fantasy Player Predictions
Jeff McNeil HIGHER 1.5 Total Bases (Scorcher 1.08x)
Jeff McNeil had a dreadful start to his 2024 campaign. Fortunately, he’s turned the dial to 10, ripping the cover off the ball. According to FanGraphs, in his last 26 games and 98 plate appearances, he’s hit 10 doubles and six homers with a .315 batting average, .629 slugging and .315 ISO. McNeil has exceeded 1.5 total bases in back-to-back starts and six of his last eight.
McNeil also has a cushy matchup. Joey Estes has allowed nine doubles, one triple, four homers, a .299 batting average and .642 slugging to 82 left-handed batters on the road this year.
Francisco Lindor HIGHER 9.0 Fantasy Points
Francisco Lindor has the same juicy matchup as McNeil. The switch-hitting shortstop is also in stellar form. In his past 112 plate appearances, Lindor has hit five homers and stolen six bases with a .357 OBP, .186 ISO and 140 wRC+. He’s also not a stranger to raking against righties. Since 2022, Lindor has had a .339 OBP, .177 ISO and 120 wRC+ against righties.
Freddie Freeman HIGHER 8.5 Fantasy Points
Freddie Freeman is a righty killer. Since 2022, he’s had a .418 OBP, .209 ISO and 162 wRC+ against righties. The sweet-swinging lefty is rolling into tonight’s game, sporting a .354 OBP, .228 ISO and 138 wRC+ in his last 65 plate appearances. Furthermore, Freeman has a drool-inducing matchup. Frankie Montas has coughed up a .377 wOBA to 248 lefties this year.
Gavin Lux HIGHER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
Montas’s inability to tame lefties is ideal for Gavin Lux to remain white-hot. In Lux’s past 23 games and 82 plate appearances, he’s hit four homers with 10 runs, 17 RBIs, a .347 batting average and a .415 OBP. The second baseman’s heater has allowed him to climb LA’s batting order, hitting third, fourth or fifth in 13 consecutive starts. Finally, Lux has exceeded 1.5 hits plus runs and RBIs in 13 of his last 16 starts.
