Sunday’s Best NBA Picks & Predictions

Philadelphia 76ers vs. Atlanta Hawks

When teams are missing key players, it makes it much more challenging to project how well they will play. Philadelphia has ruled Kelly Oubre Jr. out, and Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey are listed as game-time decisions. Atlanta will not have Kristaps Porzingis and Trae Young, while Nickeil Alexander-Walker is a game-time decision. But both teams will have a few days off following this contest, so I'm inclined to think the players with game-time decision tags will be active.

With that in mind, the 76ers are going to have more firepower available than the Hawks, and they've been a better road team (6-3) than Atlanta has been a home team (4-6). If the Hawks have Alexander-Walker available, taking the 76ers and the points (+4.5) may be a better option, but even if Atlanta has him, Philadelphia can win this one outright.

Pick: 76ers Moneyline (+132 at FanDuel Sportsbook)

Milwaukee Bucks vs. Brooklyn Nets

Brooklyn is not a good team this season, but they have been playing decent basketball of late with wins in three of their last five games (7-6 against the spread in their last 13). However, the Bucks just beat them pretty easily a couple of weeks ago in Milwaukee by a score of 116-99. They had Giannis Antetokounmpo then (29 points, eight rebounds), but he's out today.

While Milwaukee is coming off a solid win over the Celtics, they've been struggling of late, losing 11 of their last 14 games. It's still a winnable game for the Bucks against a bad Brooklyn team, but with how Milwaukee has been playing, the Nets provide value in this home game.

Pick: Nets Moneyline (+108 at FanDuel Sportsbook)

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Phoenix Suns

Looking at the Suns’ win over the Lakers in L.A. (125-108 on December 1st) makes it easy to think Phoenix can take this one at home, where they are 8-4 this season. However, they are coming off a 1138-99 thrashing at the hands of the Thunder their last time out. They've lost four of their last six, and there's a chance they will not have two of their best players available; Devin Booker and Dillon Brooks are listed as game-time decisions.

As for the Lakers, they are coming off a hard 132-119 loss to the Spurs, and they've lost three of their last six games, including a loss to the Suns. Both teams have been off for a few days, but I think that benefits the Lakers more than the Suns. It could give the Lakers the edge they need to cover this small spread.

Pick: Lakers -2.5 (-110 at Fanatics Sportsbook)
