Monday’s Best NBA PrizePicks Player Predictions
PrizePicks record: 14-6
The Cavseliers’ young power forward should thrive in tonight’s matchup against the Kings, who have allowed the eighth most points to opposing PFs. Evan Mobley struggled to score in the first few games of the year, but that was likely due to the absence of both Darius Garland and Jarrett Allen. With them back, he has scored 19 and 22 points in the last two games. He has a three-inch height advantage over the likes of Keegan Murray and Harrison Barnes, neither of whom should be able to slow him down.
The new-look Milwaukee Bucks have looked lost defensively compared to last season. They are 25th in defensive net rating and fourth in pace. They have also allowed the sixth-most points to opposing small forwards. That bodes well for DeMar DeRozan tonight, who has generally fared well against Milwaukee. Since joining the Bulls, he has 21+ points in six of seven games against them, averaging approximately 30 points per game. DeMar also has 20+ points in eight of 10 contests this season.
Operating without Fred Van Vleet and with a new head coach at the helm, Scottie Barnes has seen a spike in usage this season. He was sfourth on the team in usage among starters last season (20%) and is first (24%) early this year. Ignoring last game’s blowout loss to the Celtics, Barnes has averaged 37.9 points + rebounds + assists in his other eight games and eclipsed this mark on seven occasions. The only thing stopping him from attaining this number is the risk of a blowout against the lowly Wizards. They are 26th in defensive net rating and first in pace. Boston has also permitted the most points, fifth-most rebounds and third-most assists to opposing small forwards.
