Monday’s Best NBA PrizePicks Player Predictions
PrizePicks record: 8-3
Nikola Jokic almost always flirts with a triple-double when he’s at home. Last season, he found one in 21 of 35 contests in Denver and averaged 24.2 rebounds + assists per game. So far this season, he has 21+ R+A in all four contests, averaging 23.3 per contest. Tonight, “The Joker” will be without his sidekick, Jamal Murray, so the assist usage might be higher than usual.
Matching up against Jonas Valanciunas is a welcomed sight for Denver’s big man, too. Over the last four seasons, Jokic has matched up against J-Val on eight occasions and is averaging a 31/14/10 line. He has eclipsed this mark in five of the eight games but is over this in three of the four without Murray.
The Washington Wizards are horrendous and the perfect matchup for Tyrese Maxey. In the likely event of a blowout, there is a good chance Maxey will still be around deep into the game. Nick Nurse always gives his starters heavy minutes and Maxey has played 35+ minutes in every game so far this season. Nurse has shown that he will rest Joel Embiid (29 minutes vs. POR and 31 vs. PHX) in blowouts but hasn’t done so with Maxey.
The 76ers’ young guard has cleared this mark in four of five games this season, averaging 32.8 points+assists per game. Indiana plays at the fastest pace and has the second-worst defensive net rating. Guards have been gashing them, too. Tyrese Haliburton (31), Desmond Bane (931), Jaylen Brown (38), Trae Young (32), Dejounte Murray (32) and Tyler Herro (33) have all gone over this mark against them.
The “Greek Freak” is averaging just 24 points per game to start the season. Some of that has come down to blowouts and tough matchups, but this line is still far too low for what he is capable of. After all, he did average 31.1 points per game last season. The matchup on hand is phenomenal for him as well. Without Nic Claxton or Cameron Johnson, the Nets are shorthanded of big men right now and can be exposed down low. They are 22nd in opponent points in the paint allowed.
