San Antonio Spurs @ Brooklyn Nets

Brooklyn managed to secure a late victory last night against the Bucks in Milwaukee. On the other side of the floor, San Antonio almost picked up a Christmas Day win over the Knicks yet fell just short in the end.
The Spurs have had a full day in New York to stew over a game that narrowly slipped through their fingers. That does not bold well for the Nets, who are coming off an emotional road win- their first in three contests.

San Antonio ranks 17th in both offensive and defensive ratings on the season. The Spurs have especially made a conscious effort on the defensive side of the ball over the last five games- ranking 13th in defensive rating over that span.

The Nets are in the process of a possible complete roster overhaul, and the numbers glaringly show it. Over the last five contests, Brooklyn's offense is the second-worst across the NBA- with the third-lowest true shooting percentage. We feel the Spurs leave New York with at least one win, and they do so with a lead at half as well.

Devin Vassell has had a confusing month of December in regards to scoring. In 10 games played this month, the San Antonio guard has scored over 13.5 points six times. A closer look unlocks an odd pattern that we may be able to take advantage off.

Vassell has either cleared 13.5 points or immediately scored that suggested total after failing to do so in nine straight games. Against the Knicks, the fourth-year guard only scored 11 points. If the pattern holds true once again, he is in line to score at least 14 points against Brooklyn.

To close out this parlay, we offer up a selection that may appear to be a bit of a lay-up (no pun intended) . Brooklyn ranks third in blocked-shots accumulated by opponents with 6.2 each contest, and tonight they face the best shot-blocker in the league.

Even though the situation will always be the best course in regard to decision-making for your props, there is something to be said for recency bias. The San Antonio center has blocked 33 shots in the last five games- just to put that into perspective, LeBron James has 35 rebounds over the same amount of contests.

The 2023-24 Rookie-of-the-year is an absolute menace defending the rim and has blocked at least three shots or more in five straight contests. Brooklyn averages the seventh-most three-point attempts, so Wemby may have to step a little further out to secure three blocks. With that being said, we feel the Spurs superstar does exactly that tonight against the Nets.

Dallas Mavericks @ Phoenix Suns

Dallas received the crushing news yesterday that Luka Doncic will officially be out for at least a month due to a left calf strain. This is a brutal turn of events for what was turning into another promising season for the Mavericks. Dallas will surely have to turn on the scoring and channel their next-man-up mantra for this road battle against the Suns.
Phoenix will once again be without the services of Devin Booker, and Grayson Allen as well. However, that has been the case with the Suns for the last three games- giving them a slight edge in that department. This should be a fast-paced battle with tons of scoring, and we have our eye on a few candidates who should clear their totals.
Since Devin Booker has been out of the lineup, Tyus Jones has averaged 15 points-including a blowout against Denver, where Jones was only on the floor for 23 minutes. The Phoenix point guard is shooting an outstanding 71.6 from the field on 25 attempts over the last three games without Booker and appears to be in a prime spot to score at least 10 points tonight.
The absence of Luka Doncic will put some extra pressure on Kyrie Irving to deliver in regards to scoring, and we feel the veteran guard will be more than up for the challenge in this contest. Dallas ranks eighth in the league in pace, and fifth in offensive rating. With such a prolific offense, there should be ample opportunity for Irving to score.
When Doncic left the game the game on Christmas Day, Irving proceeded to attempt 27 field goals and shot 51% for the contest. The Dallas guard is averaging over 25 points each contest and is facing a Suns team that is allowing over 115 points on 48% shooting from the field over the last five games.
Bradley Beal will once again have the chance to play a major part in the offense for Phoenix tonight. Since Devin Booker has been out, Beal has scored no less than 23 points on 53.6 shooting in three games. Dallas ranks just outside the top ten in defensive rating on the season, yet over the last five games the Mavericks have dropped down to 18th.
Dallas is allowing 112.2 points over the last five games, and with Beal being the second-strongest option the Suns have for points, we feel he scores at least 20+ on his home floor tonight.
