Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Boston Celtics

The Celtics made significant roster changes, and aside from Jaylen Brown and Derrick White, this is not the same starting lineup from last year. This was a well-balanced team last season, as they finished in the top te10n on both offense and defense. Defensively, they are still effective, as they are eighth in defensive efficiency (1.061), but the offense is not as strong, as their 1.098 offensive efficiency ranks 17th.

The Cavaliers have lost a game, so they are off to a worse start than last year, when they began the 2024-25 season with 15 straight wins. However, last season's top team in the Eastern Conference is still playing well, having won three straight. They still look strong, despite missing key players, including last year's team leader in assists, Darius Garland. It's been their leading scorer from last year who's carrying the team, as Donovan Mitchell has scored 30+ points in three out of four games, and his 30 points per game ranks 10th.

Mitchell could have another strong outing as he leads the Cavs to a win.

New Orleans Pelicans vs. Denver Nuggets

The Nuggets suffered a tough loss in their season opener, but they've looked impressive in their last two games with double-digit victories. We knew this offense, with the talent it possesses, was going to be one of the best. They lead the league in adjusted offensive rating (118.5). Nikola Jokic is a triple-double machine, and his three straight to start the season puts him alongside Russell Westbrook and Oscar Robinson in achieving that feat. He's not even their top scorer; that’s Jamal Murray, who's averaging 30.3 points per game.

The Pelicans’ lack of success and constant injuries to their top stars led them to overhaul the roster over the last year. Brandon Ingram and CJ McCollum were sent packing, leaving Zion Williamson as the only remaining star in this lineup. This could be a down year for New Orleans, which is the only team in the Western Conference without a win.
