NBA Sleeper Picks Player Predictions (6/17/24)
Regular season record: 202-130
Playoff record: 51-45
Luka Doncic (G/F – DAL): OVER 24.5 points (alt line)
Luka kept his cool in Game 4 and helped lead the Mavericks to a near record blowout of a Boston Celtics team on the cusp of a championship. He will need to keep exerting extra energy on defense for Dallas to have a chance in Game 5, but the momentum has swung. Yes, it's true that no team has ever come back to win a seven game series after being down 3-0, but the Mavericks can at least make this a series with another victory. Luka has scored 27 or more points in 11 straight games and is all but certain to do so again tonight. Usage and volume will never be a problem for Luka, so not even a poor shooting night should prevent him from hitting at least 25. Light up the More on Luka for Game 5.
Jrue Holiday (G – BOS): OVER 9.5 points (alt line)
Jrue Holiday has been quiet since his 26 point outburst in Game 2, scoring nine and 10 points in Game 3 and Game 4, respectively. His main contribution since has been lockdown defense on Kyrie Irving for stretches at a time, but he has been unable to contain him as he did in the first two games of this series. With the Celtics faltering in Game 4 with the series in hand, look for Jrue to have another double digit night in field goal attempts, which should, for all intents and purposes, get him into double figures in scoring. Jrue has only scored as much as the shots he has taken in the last two games, scoring nine points on nine shots in Game 3 and 10 points on 10 shots in Game 4. Jab the More on Jrue for Game 5.
Derrick White (G – BOS): OVER 9.5 points (alt line)
Game 4 just goes to show us that anything can happen in the NBA. A Dallas Mavericks team on the verge of getting swept destroyed an overconfident Celtics team, and Derrick White managed just six points on 10 shots in 30 minutes of action. The fact that he could barely muster any offense despite leading the team in minutes is a cause for concern, but White had still scored 13 or more in eight straight games prior to Game 4's debacle. White has scored fewer than 10 points just twice all postseason. Dap the More on Derrick for Game 5.
Writers note: The lines are constantly changing on Sleeper (and sometimes expiring), so there is a high probability that one or all of the numbers may no longer be the same when you open your app. There are excellent values when they are first posted, with the only catch being that they are not all released at the same time. Vigilance could provide a solid return on investment this season, literally.
