NFL Monday Night Football PrizePicks Predictions: Chargers vs. Cardinals
This number makes no sense. Murray has thrown for fewer than 220 yards in all but one of his games this season. He only went over this number in his 266-yard performance against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 2.
The Chargers have the 11th-best pass defense in the league, allowing 192.0 yards per game. Even if the Cardinals are playing behind in this game, they've been playing from behind all season and Murray's numbers are pedestrian. So why is this number so high? I think it's because it's a primetime game, and the public loves betting Overs. But this number still feels a little too easy. That said, until Murray proves it on the field, taking his Under is the right call.
After two bad weeks in a row, Dobbins finally broke through last week to account for 96 yards and a touchdown on the ground. He now has three 90+ yard games this season, and his last performance was his first good one against a good defense.
The good news for Dobbins tonight is that he won't face a good defense. The Cardinals are allowing the third-most rushing yards per game this season. One of the two teams worse than them is the Carolina Panthers. Dobbins ran for 131 yards against the Panthers earlier this season. Dobbins carried the ball a season-high 25 times last week. The game script should be positive for Dobbins, and if it is, the Cardinals don't have any way of stopping him.
McBride leads the Cardinals with 28 catches this season. That's seven more than Michael Wilson who is currently second on the team. What makes the number even more impressive is that McBride missed a game this year. No other Cardinals' receiver has missed an entire game this season.
McBride has caught at least six passes in three of his five games this season. Last week, he caught all eight of his targets for 96 yards. While the Chargers don't give up a lot of passing yards, they do give up a lot of receptions. They rank 19th in the league in opponent completions per game, allowing 21.2 per contest. They've given up over 270 yards to tight ends this season, so it's not a position they excel at covering. McBride is Murray's favourite target. They may not get a lot of yards tonight, but they'll connect at least six times.
