Baltimore Ravens (-13) at Cincinnati Bengals
Last week seemed to be a fluke for the Bengals offense, and I am willing to bet on them ending the season with a stinker of a performance. The Ravens are 4-1 against the spread versus AFC North teams this season, covering by an average of 7.2 points. For the overall season, Cincinnati ranks as the 27th scoring team, averaging 20.5 points per game. Their run defense, which allows 4.8 yards per carry, is tied for the third-worst in the league.
The Ravens rushing attack, led by Lamar Jackson, seems to have been re-energized. He has run for 333 yards and four touchdowns over the past four games. The combination of J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards has added another 542 yards and six touchdowns on the ground in these games. With this type of rushing success, they are a dangerous team. This also sets up play-action beautifully, making the speedy Marquise Brown a threat again.
Pick: Ravens -13
Tennessee Titans (-7.5) at Houston Texans
The last three wins for the Titans have been by double-digits, and this game is shaping up to have a similar result. They don’t have time to mess around or play any games this week. Tennessee will look to put on an offensive show, featuring a squad that ranks No. 3 in the NFL in points per game (30.0), third in points per play (0.468), tied for fourth in yards per play (6.1), and third in yards per carry (5.0). The Texans are tied for the worst in the league in yards per play allowed (6.2) and yards per carry allowed (5.0). This is bad news, with Derrick Henry coming to town.
Pick: Titans -7.5
Jacksonville Jaguars at Indianapolis Colts (-14)
The Colts are only in this position because they lost to the Jaguars in Week 1. Look for them to get a bit of revenge this week, as they hope to get into the playoffs. Without James Robinson and D.J. Chark in the lineup, I’m not expecting much offense from Jacksonville. Defensively, they allow 6.2 yards per play, which is tied for the worst in the league. Scoring 21 points may be enough for the Colts to cover this spread. However, they have averaged 29.4 points over their past five games.
Pick: Colts -14
Dallas Cowboys (-1.5) at New York Giants
The last time the Cowboys and Giants met was the game that Dak Prescott suffered his season-ending injury. This should give some of his teammates a little extra juice, as they attempt to steal a playoff spot. They also face a Giants team that has looked dead for quite a while. You would need to go back to Week 10 to find their last game where they put up 20 points. Meanwhile, the Cowboys offense is beginning to click. Andy Dalton has passed for 771 yard, seven touchdowns, and only one interception over the past three games. While James Bradberry for the Giants is great, he can only cover one receiver. The Cowboys have the weapons to attack this underrated defensive unit of the Giants. Look for Jason Garrett to call a terrible game for the Giants, helping to keep the Cowboys alive, going into Sunday Night Football.
Pick: Cowboys -1.5
Washington Football Team (-3) at Philadelphia Eagles
Tim Tebow, I mean Jalen Hurts, could struggle quite a bit in this game. He’s already barely completing over half of his passes (53.6% past four weeks), and now he gets to face this Washington defensive front. Oh, and he gets to do it without Dallas Goedert, DeSean Jackson, and Miles Sanders. Have fun. Defensively, Philly is without Fletcher Cox, Derek Barnett, Shaun Bradley, and Duke Riley. This is enough to let Washington run with a bit more consistency, which is all they’ll need to win this game.
Pick: Washington -3
Week 16 Results: 4-1
Season to Date: 40-38-2
