Week 2 Sunday Night Football Touchdown Scorer Prop Bets
Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook
Atlanta Falcons First TD Scorer: Bijan Robinson (+175)
Robinson is arguably the best running back in the NFL. The former Texas star is a force on the ground and in the passing game. Last week, he only had 24 rushing yards and zero touchdowns against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, Robinson had six receptions for 100 receiving yards and a 50-yard touchdown in the first quarter. The superstar's 50-yard receiving score was the Falcons’ first touchdown of the game.
Furthermore, Atlanta has leaned on Robinson early in games, especially with Michael Penix Jr. under center. The former Texas star has had the first offensive touchdown for the Falcons in three of Penix's four career starts. Meanwhile, the Vikings held the Chicago Bears' running backs out of the end zone in Week 1. However, they struggled to contain Caleb Williams, as the former USC star had a rushing touchdown last week, the first score in the game for Chicago.
Minnesota Vikings First TD Scorer: Justin Jefferson (+310)
Minnesota's offense got off to a rocky start in Week 1. The Vikings had two field goals over the first three quarters. However, J.J. McCarthy and the offense were on fire in the fourth quarter, totaling three touchdowns. The former Michigan star started the fourth-quarter run with a 13-yard touchdown pass to Justin Jefferson. The superstar wide receiver led Minnesota with four receptions on seven targets for 44 receiving yards and the touchdown.
More importantly, the Falcons struggled to slow down Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' passing attack last week. The veteran quarterback had three passing touchdowns, including two to Emeka Egbuka. Yet, the former Ohio State wide receiver only needed six targets and four receptions to find the end zone twice, including the first Buccaneers touchdown of the game. Expect the Vikings offense to build off their Week 1 success on Sunday night.
Anytime TD Scorer: Drake London (+155)
Unfortunately, London left last week's matchup against Tampa Bay in the fourth quarter with a shoulder injury. However, the former USC star nearly had a touchdown before landing awkwardly on his shoulder. More importantly, he was Michael Penix Jr.'s clear-cut top weapon in the passing game, leading Atlanta with eight receptions and 15 targets. He had more than twice as many targets as any other Falcon before leaving with the injury.
Last week, the Vikings' defense played better in the second half after a slow start. However, they struggled to defend Rome Odunze. The former Washington star led the Bears with six receptions on nine targets, catching Caleb Williams' only passing touchdown in the game. More importantly, Minnesota will be down multiple starters on defense. Jeff Okudah and Andrew Van Ginkel have been ruled out because of concussions. Meanwhile, Harrison Smith is questionable with an illness.
Anytime TD Scorer: Michael Penix Jr. (+700)
While no one will confuse him for Lamar Jackson, Penix is an underrated threat in the run game. Last week, he had six rushing attempts for 21 yards and an impressive touchdown late in the fourth quarter, showing off his underrated athletic abilities. Furthermore, Penix has a rushing touchdown in his past two regular-season games, dating back to last year. The second-year quarterback has two rushing touchdowns on 13 attempts in his four career starts.
Meanwhile, Caleb Williams had no problem running all over the Vikings’ defense in Week 1. The former USC star had six rushing attempts for 58 yards and a touchdown, leading the Bears in yards and scores. More importantly, Minnesota repeatedly lost pocket containment on Williams. According to PFF, all six of his rushing attempts and the touchdown were from scrambling in Week 1. By comparison, four of Penix's six rushing attempts last week were scrambles.
