NFL Week 17 Bets to Fade

Odds via DraftKings Sportsbook

Carolina Panthers vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Avoid Betting Jalen McMillan Under 39.5 Receiving Yards (-115)

  • McMillan has averaged 30.6 receiving yards per game this season despite barely playing earlier this year. However, the rookie has been on fire lately.
  • He has averaged 4.7 receptions on 6.7 targets for 63.7 yards per game over the past three weeks, totaling at least six targets and 57 yards in every contest.
  • The rookie should see an uptick in targets in Week 17, with Cade Otton (knee) and Sterling Shepard (hamstring/foot) ruled out on Friday.
  • Last week, the Panthers gave up 44 yards to Michael Wilson. They've allowed 42.3 yards per game to opposing No. 2 wide receivers over their past six contests, surrendering 42 or more in four matchups.

Instead, Bet Bucky Irving Over 80.5 Rushing Yards (-120)

  • Irving has averaged 61.3 rushing yards per game this season. However, the rookie has been a superstar since taking over as the starting running back following the team's bye.
  • He left the Week 14 game after 10 snaps because of a back injury. Yet, Irving has averaged 106.3 yards per game in the other four contests since the bye week, totaling 117 or more twice.
  • The Panthers have given up 141.1 yards per game to running backs, the most in the NFL, allowing 95 or more in all but two contests this year.
  • Carolina has surrendered 173 yards per game to running backs over the past month, giving up 135 or more in every contest, including a season-high 228 to the Buccaneers backfield in Week 13.

Atlanta Falcons vs. Washington Commanders

Avoid Betting Terry McLaurin Under 63.5 Receiving Yards (-115)

  • McLaurin has averaged 68.8 receiving yards per game this season, totaling 70 or more in 53.3% of the contests, including three of the past four.
  • He has been on fire lately except when facing the Philadelphia Eagles, averaging 86.1 yards per game over his past seven contests against anyone but the division leaders.
  • The Falcons have given up the ninth-most yards to wide receivers, allowing 155.2 per game. They've surrendered 260 or more yards to wide receivers in two of their past five contests.
  • Atlanta has allowed opposing No. 1 wide receivers to average 93.8 yards per game over the past seven weeks, giving up 68 or more in all but one contest, including over 105 in half of their matchups.

Instead, Bet Bijan Robinson Over 82.5 Rushing Yards (-115)

  • Robinson has the fifth-most rushing yards in the NFL this season (1,196), averaging 79.7 per game despite the slow start.
  • The superstar running back has been on fire lately, averaging 92.9 yards per game over the past eight weeks, totaling 86 or more in all but one contest.
  • He has averaged 23 attempts for 103.3 yards per game since the Week 12 bye, totaling at least 22 attempts and 92 yards in every contest, including last week with Michael Penix Jr. under center.
  • Washington has struggled to stop opposing running backs, giving up 113.5 yards per game, the fifth-most in the NFL. They've surrendered 92 or more yards to six of their past eight games, including last week.

Detroit Lions vs. San Francisco 49ers

Avoid Betting Sam LaPorta Under 44.5 Receiving Yards (-110)

  • LaPorta has averaged 42.8 receiving yards per game this season despite averaging only 2.8 targets and 37.3 yards per contest over the first month.
  • He has been a consistent part of the passing attack lately, averaging eight targets and 69.3 yards per game over the past three weeks, totaling 54 or more twice.
  • The 49ers have given up the third-fewest yards to tight ends this year, surrendering 37.3 per game. They've allowed 38 or fewer yards in 66.7% of their matchups.
  • However, San Francisco has given up 43.8 yards per game to tight ends over the past month, surrendering 67 or more twice, including last week.

Instead, Bet Jahmyr Gibbs Over 93.5 Rushing Yards (-115)

  • Gibbs has averaged 74.9 rushing yards per game in the 14 contests with David Montgomery this season. However, he has been outstanding without the veteran running back.
  • Last week, Gibbs had 23 attempts for 109 yards. He has averaged 19.3 attempts for 102.3 yards per game in four career contests without Montgomery, totaling over 100 in back-to-back outings.
  • The 49ers have surrendered 97.8 yards per game to running backs, giving up 98 or more in 53.3% of their contests, including five of the past seven.
  • San Francisco has given up 135.4 yards per game over the past five weeks, surrendering 113 or more in four of their past five contests.
