Week 1 provided us with plenty of vital information to digest. You can argue that Week 1 may cause overreaction based on a one-game sample, but it does offer us the opportunity to confirm offseason thoughts. Two of the teams we learned more about will face off in Detroit in Week 2.

Washington Commanders vs. Detroit Lions (-1.5)
The Detroit Lions expected to be a team in plenty of shootouts coming into the season, and they lived up to the hype last week. They ended up losing 35-38 to the Eagles in a game that wasn’t as close as the final score indicates. Regardless, Detroit should be in plenty of entertaining matchups this season.
The Commanders come off a win at home last week over the Jaguars. The game combined for 50 points, and the performance from Carson Wentz provided Washington fans with hope. Wentz finished with over 300 yards passing and four touchdowns, although he did have two interceptions. Worth noting RB Antonio Gibson looked fantastic en route to 130 total yards, and first-round rookie WR Jahan Dotson scored two touchdowns.
Betting Angles
The BettingPros consensus spread for the Commanders vs. Lions sits at -1.5 for the Lions, with a total of 48.5. Both teams were involved in games over this mark in Week 1. D’Andre Swift missed practice Wednesday and Thursday with an ankle injury. This will be important to monitor as Swift is arguably Detroit’s most explosive playmaker, totaling 175 yards last week.
Commanders vs. Lions: Recommendation
If Week 1 is any indication, this game should provide plenty of points. 48.5 is the fourth-highest game total this week, and it may become a trend to target overs in Detroit games. The Lions gave up over 200 yards and four TDs on the ground last week. Antonio Gibson did most of his damage in the air against the Jaguars, catching seven passes for 72 yards, but he should be a viable option to take advantage of the Lions’ rush defense. On the defensive side for the Commanders, they gave up over 400 yards of total offense to the Jaguars. The Lions should be able to put up points like last week.
The Pick: Over 48.5 (-110)
