NFL Week 5 Weather Report: Advice & Predictions
(All forecasts courtesy of AccuWeather.com | Odds via FanDuel Sportsbook)
Minnesota Vikings (-3.5) at Cleveland Browns | Total 36.5
Forecast: 58 degrees, 0% chance of precipitation
Wind Speed: 13-15 MPH
There is no precipitation in the current forecast, but temperatures will be coolish with mostly cloudy conditions. Not only will Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel be making his first NFL start, but he will also have to deal with the suffocating Minnesota Vikings defense and has to battle a stiff wind. The passing and kicking games could be adversely affected in this one.
Houston Texans (-1.5) at Baltimore Ravens | Total 40.5
Forecast: 78 degrees, 0% chance of precipitation
Wind Speed: 5-7 MPH
It will be unseasonably warm in Charm City, as quarterback Cooper Rush makes his first start for the Ravens in place of the injured Lamar Jackson (hamstring). It’s hard to believe the Texans are favored, even with Rush under center.
New York Giants at New Orleans Saints (-1.5) | Total 41.5
Forecast: Indoors
Wind Speed: This game is played in a dome
If a quarterback battle between Jaxson Dart and Spencer Rattler doesn’t get you excited about football, nothing will. We have controlled environmental conditions at Caesars Superdome. The total seems a little on the low side.
Miami Dolphins (-1.5) at Carolina Panthers | Total 44.5
Forecast: 77 degrees, 0% chance of precipitation
Wind Speed: 7-9 MPH
If you’re a regular reader of this column, you know how much I despise tranquil weather. I want to see steady rain, wind and/or snow. We’ll have to wait a while on the latter. It will be perfect conditions in Charlotte, as the Dolphins enter the post-Tyreek Hill portion of their season.
Las Vegas Raiders at Indianapolis Colts (-6.5) | Total 47.5
Forecast: Indoors
Wind Speed: This game is played in a dome
The Raiders play indoors normally, and so do the Colts. They’re used to playing under the roof. What Vegas isn’t used to is a red-hot Daniel Jones. While the Colts lost last week against the Rams in Los Angeles, in another indoor game, they return home, where Indianapolis is averaging 31 points per game (PPG) while allowing 18 PPG.
Denver Broncos at Philadelphia Eagles (-4.5) | Total 43.5
Forecast: 81 degrees, 0% chance of precipitation
Wind Speed: 5-7 MPH
The Broncos and Eagles will play under unseasonably warm conditions in the City of Brotherly Love. It will be rather clear, and there will be no precipitation in sight, and very little wind, if any. That’s great news if you’re Jalen Hurts, Bo Nix, Jake Elliott or Wil Lutz.
Dallas Cowboys (-2.5) at New York Jets | Total 47.5
Forecast: 81 degrees, 0% chance of precipitation
Wind Speed: 6-8 MPH
The conditions will be very similar to Baltimore and Philadelphia. We’ll have very, very warm temperatures on Sunday, but you’re not likely to see many complaints from the locals. It will be unseasonably warm for the first weekend of October.
Tennessee Titans at Arizona Cardinals (-8.5) | Total 41.5
Forecast: Indoors
Wind Speed: This game is played in a dome
The Titans and Cardinals will each have former No. 1 overall picks facing each other, as quarterback Cam Ward (2025 NFL Draft) and quarterback Kyler Murray (2019 NFL Draft) square off. That’s about as much of an interesting fact as we can find about this game. The Cardinals are down to third-string running back Emari Demercado, who starts with James Conner and Trey Benson injured.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Seattle Seahawks (-3) | Total 44.5
Forecast: 63 degrees, 0% chance of precipitation
Wind Speed: 9-11 MPH
The weather will be a bit coolish, but there won’t be any clouds in the forecast, nor any precipitation. That’s pretty good for this time of year in the Pacific Northwest. We will have a rather steady wind, which could swirl, potentially affecting the kicking game for both sides.
Washington Commanders at Los Angeles Chargers (-2.5) | Total 47.5
Forecast: Indoors
Wind Speed: This game is played in a dome
The bad news is that this game is indoors. Yuck. The good news is that Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels has been medically cleared, and he has returned to practicing in full. It appears we’ll get a head-to-head matchup between Daniels and quarterback Justin Herbert, which could be quite entertaining.
Detroit Lions (-10.5) at Cincinnati Bengals | Total 48.5
Forecast: 81 degrees, 0% chance of precipitation
Wind Speed: 4-6 MPH
The Lions head down Interstate 75 (OK, they likely will still fly) for the short jaunt down to Queen City. The Lions are outdoors for the third time this season. The results have been mixed, going 1-1 straight up (SU)/against the spread (ATS), and they’ve split the over/under, too. The Bengals bottomed out in Denver last week, but can things get even worse with the Lions paying a visit? At least the weather will be nice.
New England Patriots at Buffalo Bills (-8.5) (Sunday Night) | Total 49.5
Forecast: 69 degrees, 0% chance of precipitation
Wind Speed: 4-6 MPH
The evening weather will feel like summer, not the first weekend of October. There likely won’t be a lot of complaints from the locals. There won’t be any wind to speak of, either. The only thing cold will be the ‘Cold Front’ jerseys the Bills will be wearing.
Kansas City Chiefs (-3) at Jacksonville Jaguars (Monday Night) | Total 46.5
Forecast: 77 degrees, 60% chance of precipitation
Wind Speed: 9-11 MPH
The last game on the schedule features the most treacherous weather. Thunderstorms in the afternoon will give way to light rain and showers for the start of the game. We’ll get a steadier shield of rain in the second quarter on, and the winds will be kicking up, too. We could see quite slippery conditions, with footing potentially an issue. Both Patrick Mahomes and Trevor Lawrence could be a bit limited, too, if the showers are on the heavier side.
