What is Betting the Puck Line?
The puck line is a set of odds bookmakers use to balance out NHL betting action by "handicapping" the favorite while boosting the underdog. The standard puck line is 1.5, which means that bettors can choose to bet on the underdog +1.5, or the favorite -1.5. The odds on these wagers are quite different from the straight moneyline odds, with the moneyline underdog turning into the puck line favorite.
