Thursday’s NHL Best Bets & Picks

Buffalo Sabres @ Montreal Canadiens

As of right now, both the Sabres (27-17-5) and the Canadiens (28-15-7) are in the Eastern Conference playoffs and are having impressive seasons. Montreal has climbed the ranks and now sits third in the NHL in scoring at 3.40 goals per game. Buffalo is also in the top 10 at 3.27. For the purposes of betting on this game, it’s also important to note that both teams are in the bottom 12 in goals allowed to opponents this season. On top of that, eight of the Sabres’ last 10 games have gone OVER the total, while Montreal has topped it in six of their last 10. There are lots of paths for this game to get to seven goals, so let’s target that.

Pick: OVER 6.5 (-106)

Zach Hyman Anytime Goal (+130)

Playing alongside Connor McDavid has its distinct advantages, not the least of which is absurd nonsense like this.

In his last 15 games, Zach Hyman has 11 goals, and he looks fully healthy from his wrist injury sustained in the playoffs last year. Pittsburgh started former Oilers goalie Stuart Skinner last night, presumably to avoid him having to be in net against his old team. This means Edmonton will face Arturs Silovs, who has an .890 save percentage and 3.05 GAA in 22 games this season. The Oilers continue to make no sense as a team and STILL have not won three consecutive games. But let’s ride with Hyman to light the lamp tonight.

Roman Josi Over 0.5 Assists (+121)

One of the top picks on the NHL Prop Bet Cheat Sheet is for the Predators captain to pick up a helper in Nashville’s game against Ottawa. Both of these teams love to give up goals, and in a high-scoring affair, it’s a solid pick for Josi to nab a helper. He has seven assists in his last five games.
