For the entire 2023-2024 season, we will provide our Best NHL Player Props from the NHL slate each day. We’ll also post our favorite bets in the BettingPros Discord, which is free to join and filled with info from some of the sharpest analysts in the field. Additionally, we have a BettingPros NHL Prop Bet group where you can make bets without having to wager money but can still compete with other bettors.
Let’s take a look at today’s best plays.
Best NHL Plus Money Player Prop Bets
POTD: Auston Matthews 2+ Goals (+430 FanDuel)
There aren’t many players in the NHL on whom I feel comfortable betting two goals. Matthews is one, and Nathan MacKinnon is the other. Occasionally, I’ll sprinkle on Filip Forsberg. Otherwise, I much prefer wagering on multiple points.
However, Matthews has 14 goals and nine assists in 15 career games against the Devils, and Toronto is capable of dropping four or five goals against any team in the league, especially at home.
They do not have a cake matchup when New Jersey comes to town. While the Maple Leafs have not clinched a playoff berth yet, they are in a prime position to do so. The Devils, however, have some work to do to see if they can sneak into the final Wild Card spot. They’re starting Jake Allen in net; since coming over from Montreal, Allen had four great starts before allowing five goals to Ottawa in his last time out. He faced Toronto only once this year and gave up five goals, albeit with a much worse defense in front of him, but I think he’s going to struggle against that same team.
Matthews has 58 goals on the season, and I believe it’s worth the +430 odds that he’ll have 60 after tonight.
Other POTD: Pick a Prop for Nathan MacKinnon
As they say, for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. In hockey props, for every guy who hates playing at home, there is a Nathan MacKinnon who loves it. Indeed, we shall bet on these players in perpetuity. I’m going with two assists for him, but 3+ points is viable, and it could be a 2+ goals game. Like I said – pick a prop.
If you have any questions or see a late injury or line change, don’t hesitate to message me @thewonkypenguin on Twitter, and I’ll make sure to update the post/projections accordingly. NHL Player Props is often an overlooked market, but it can be extremely profitable on a daily basis. Good luck!
