There are two big matchups tonight in the NHL Playoffs. Let's look at our top NHL picks and bets for Sunday’s slate of hockey games.
Sunday's NHL Best Bets
(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Florida Panthers (-148) at Boston Bruins (+124) | O/U 5.5 (+105/-125)
You could argue the Panthers just had to knock off the rust in Game 1 after a long layoff. Over the last two games, it's been all Florida as they've outscored the Bruins 12-3. Their top lines have been a force, and they are attacking the net with 33 shots in both games, while Boston has just 32 combined. They're winning in every aspect: offense and defense, they went 4-for-6 on the Power Play and were perfect on the Penalty Kill.
The offense has been flat and now they might be without one of their best forwards as Brad Marchand is questionable after taking a hit from Sam Bennett. The defense had done well at containing the Maple Leafs, but it seems like over the last year, the Boston defense cannot contain this Panthers offense. They relied on Jeremy Swayman too much, but one guy can only do so much when you allow 24 high-danger chances in the previous two games.
Playing in Boston could provide energy for the Bruins, but as we remember, the Panthers had no problems with that setting.
Pick: Panthers Moneyline (-148)
Vancouver Canucks (+170) at Edmonton Oilers (-205) | O/U 6.5 (-105/-115)
Game 1 was the Oilers dominating the first half then the Canucks making a roaring comeback, but the second game was a back-and-forth affair with Edmonton grabbing the win in overtime. When the offense is on, they are so dangerous, and Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl were hot in Game 2, with each notching a goal and three assists. Between them, they have 33 points in the playoffs.
The Canucks have been doing well for using their third-string goaltender against one of the best offenses in the league. Arturs Silovs has been in since Game 4 of the first round, and he's been great with a 2.58 GAA in the playoffs. He doesn't need to be flawless because Nikita Zadorov had a goal and assist in both games, J.T. Miller has a goal and two assists in this series, and Dakota Joshua was a big part of that Game 1 comeback.
Both offenses are playing well, and that trend should continue for this game.
Pick: Over 6.5 Total Goals (-105)
