Detroit Red Wings at Florida Panthers

The term "playoff hangover" can be real for certain teams and might apply to the Panthers. They've hit a rough patch lately, going 4-4-1, with no back-to-back wins and being shut out twice. When you dive deeper into their numbers, there isn't a huge concern; Corsi and Fenwick percentages are each over 55%, with them averaging 30 shots per game.

The NHL is the league that fires coaches the quickest, and it might be onto something because a change in leadership has proven effective. The Red Wings, for example, made that change and went on a seven-game winning streak before it was snapped in their last game against the Sharks.

When you dissect it, this is an incredible roster. Dylan Larkin has had three straight 30+ goal seasons and is on track for another, and Alex DeBrincat is capable of 40 goals. They might decide to keep Cam Talbot as their primary goalie after Ville Husso struggled in his return from injured reserve (IR).

We should see an exciting offensive matchup with how well Detroit’s offense has been and the fact the Panthers’ offense can still score goals.

Edmonton Oilers at Colorado Avalanche

After another rough start to the season, we're finally seeing the Oilers team that went to the Stanley Cup Finals last season. After going 6-7-1 in the landscape of the NHL, which sometimes could result in changes, they marched forward and turned things around. They are 21-6-1 since that rough start.

The offensive struggles were evident then, with Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid being the only two who were consistent from the start. Those are two of the best players in the league, but they still need that supporting cast of Zach Hyman and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins to produce. After Hyman only had one point through the first nine games, he put up 25 in his next 29. Nugent-Hopkins has scored 21 points in his last 29 games.

Colorado is another team that has turned around its season after a rough start. The problem was primarily due to the goaltending, but they swapped out both goalies, which has worked well. Since making the change, they have gone 14-5-1.

It doesn't hurt when you have one of the best offenses in the league. That includes reigning Hart Trophy winner Nathan MacKinnon, who could win back-to-back Hart Trophy awards thanks to his league-leading 70 points.

The Oilers were able to grab the win the last time in Denver, but that was before the Avalanche’s goaltending changes. They should fare better and get the win.
