The NHL has a whopping 13-game slate to bet on Tuesday night. This big of a betting board offers tons of betting markets, props, and players to target for my latest NHL Same Game Parlay pick and prediction.
Last week’s NHL SGP between the Carolina Hurricanes and Tampa Bay Lightning was a winner at +150. The Lightning snapped a four-game losing slump with a late go-ahead goal on home ice against the Hurricanes, winning outright 3-2 to cash their +104 moneyline odds and under 7.5 total goals.
Tonight, I’ll be targeting an Eastern Conference matchup between the Tampa Bay Lightning against the Boston Bruins. Follow me on X at Matt_MacKay_ for more NHL free bets and weekly analysis.
Tuesday's NHL SGP: Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Boston Bruins
(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)
Tampa Bay Lightning (-140) vs. Boston Bruins (+116) | O/U 5.5 (-124/+102)
1st Period Goal In First Five Minutes: No (-230)
I’m tackling a new betting market with a 1st period game prop for the first leg of this 3-leg NHL Same Game Parlay. Let’s bet against a goal being scored in the first five minutes of the 1st period between the Bruins and Lightning.
Goaltender Jeremy Swayman has been confirmed for the Bruins, while Andrei Vasilevskiy is expected to start for the Lightning on the road at TD Garden tonight. Vasilevskiy has been playing well and hasn’t allowed a goal within the first five minutes of a game in three consecutive starts. Conversely, Swayman has regressed a bit, allowing three or more goals in four consecutive starts for Boston.
However, Swayman hasn’t surrendered a goal in the first five minutes of a game in any of his last three starts, including a 0-0 1st period between the Bruins and Lightning played on January 9th in Tampa Bay. Let’s have some fun and make this our first leg between two offenses that have a tendency to start slow this season.
Under 6.5 Total Goals (-162)
Vasilevskiy is rock solid in between the pipes, giving up two or fewer goals in five of his last six starts. Swayman has allowed three to four goals in four consecutive starts, but no more than four goals during this recent stretch, which includes a 4-1 loss to Tampa Bay last week.
The goal total under is set to 5.5 by oddsmakers and I’m buying up a goal at -162 odds. The total has gone under in six of Tampa Bay’s last seven games on the road against Boston, while also going under in four of Boston’s previous five home games played.
The Lightning have only gone over 6.5 total goals once in their last seven games, during their 5-2 road win against Pittsburgh on Sunday. Boston has gone under 6.5 total goals in two of their last three games, which included Swayman earning starts in all three of these contests. He just won 4-3 against Florida on Saturday, snapping a five-game losing slump. However, based on how these offenses tend to start slow, paired with quality goaltending expected, I like buying up a goal and going under 6.5.
Tampa Bay Lightning +2.5 (-850)
Tampa Bay should win this game but they only recently stopped a four-game losing skid, so I’m being tentative and buying up to +2.5 on an alternate puck line. The Lightning haven’t lost by more than two goals with Vasilevskiy in the crease at all this season. Boston has difficulty scoring, ranked 28th, averaging 2.6 goals per game.
In case Tampa Bay is down by a goal late in this game, buying up to +2.5 ensures we won’t lose this NHL Same Game Parlay on an empty-netter. Boston hasn’t won by three-plus goals since a 4-0 shutout win at home against Columbus on December 28th.
NHL SGP (+136)
Our three-leg NHL Same Game Parlay is primarily rooted in Andrei Vasilevskiy continuing to play at a high-level for Tampa Bay tonight on the road against Boston. We’re starting with no goals scored in the first five minutes of the 1st period, then buying up to under 6.5 total goals and Tampa Bay +2.5 on alternate lines.
We’re getting +136 odds with these three legs but make sure to claim the NHL SGP 25% profit boost on FanDuel Sportsbook to get this wager to boost these odds to +170 ahead of tonight’s puck drop at TD Garden between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Boston Bruins.
