Overview

The undefeated Seahawks are fresh off their bye, following a close win their week prior. Thanks to Russell Wilson, this Seattle offense is rolling. They are the top-ranked scoring team, putting up 33.8 points per game. Seattle is also first in yards per play at 6.6.

Meanwhile, their defense is terrible. As I have said at every outlet this season about a few teams, a Cover 3 scheme with no pass-rush does not work. That is what the Seahawks do. They are allowing the fifth-most passing yards per attempt (7.7) and an even 27 points per game, which is average.

Arizona is a difficult team to grade offensively. Kyler Murray continues to be nothing short of terrible as a passer, ranking among the worst in the league under pressure. Last week, against a horrendous Dallas defense, he completed just nine of 24 passes and looked bad most of the night. Still, it did not matter, as his legs continue to be more than an issue for defenses. He added 74 yards and a touchdown on the ground last Monday, and his agility to make plays with his legs nearly neutralizes his inability to pass under pressure since he can simply tuck and run.

Defensively, the Cardinals continue to perform pretty well. They have allowed the second-fewest points in the league and an average of 5.2 yards per play, which is tied for the seventh-best. Still, losing Chandler Jones is massive, and we will see how they look this week against a good team.

Trends

  • Seattle is 4-1 against the spread (ATS) in five games this season.
  • The total has hit the over in four of Seattle’s last six games.
  • Arizona is 6-2-1 ATS in its last nine games.
  • The total has hit the under in four of Arizona’s last five home games.

Prop Bet

Third Quarter Spread: Seahawks -0.5 (+106)
The game could be close in the first half, but Seattle has proven to make the right adjustments at halftime this season. Through five games, Seattle is by far the highest-scoring team in the third quarter, averaging 11.2 points. Arizona averages just 5.2. Look for Wilson to come out of the half aggressively.

Bottom Line

While Murray is tough to contain, you have to believe the Seahawks are coming off a bye with a plan. If they can force Murray to be a pocket passer, there’s little doubt that it plays in their favor. Meanwhile, Wilson has been nearly perfect this season. Arizona has not presented much to challenge that, from what I’ve seen.

Pick: Seahawks -3.5
