Cincinnati Reds vs. Colorado Rockies
Hunter Greene's stats make it look like he'll be easy to hit (6.97 ERA, 1.45 WHIP, .250 opponents’ batting average). But those numbers came over just two starts - one bad start (3.1 innings, seven hits, eight earned runs, seven strikeouts) and one solid start (seven innings, three hits, zero earned runs, 12 strikeouts). Ryan Feltner hasn't been too bad when pitching at home (3-1 with a 4.14 ERA and .216 opponents’ batting average).
Both teams have been hitting well since the break (.286) and have been scoring runs (Reds: 10; Rockies: 12). Greene can contain the Rockies’ lineup, and I am not confident the Reds will go off on Felton. However, there is no value betting on the Moneyline, so bet the under instead.
Pick: Under 11.0 Runs (-108)
San Francisco Giants vs. Seattle Mariners
This is a somewhat unique game in that both starting pitchers have solid, respectable numbers that scream bet the under. However, when you delve past the surface numbers, you can see that neither is in a good position for this game.
Logan Gilbert has not had his best stuff at home, where he is 6-3 in 11 starts with a 4.11 ERA and a .211 opponents’ batting average. He has given up 13 of his 14 home runs at home. Robbie Ray is 3-5 on the road with a 4.53 ERA and .254 opponents’ batting average.
I'm going with the Giants Moneyline because the Mariners have hit .086 since the break and because of Gilbert's habit of giving up home runs at home.
Pick: Giants Moneyline (+168)
Los Angeles Dodgers vs. New York Yankees (Game 2 of Doubleheader)
It is not clear who will be the starting pitchers for the second half of today's Dodgers-Yankees doubleheader. But with how both teams have been hitting, I feel confident in taking the under without that knowledge. In Friday's game, they combined for 11 hits and three earned runs. It is the only game they've played since the break. Los Angeles was struggling at the plate before the break, and the Yankees weren't doing too much better.
It is a risky move without knowing the pitchers, but with how each team has been at the plate, I'm comfortable with taking the under.
Pick: Under 9.0 Runs (-110)
