Saturday's NHL Best Bets

Winnipeg Jets (-130) at New York Islanders (+110) | O/U 5.5 (-108/-112)

The Jets are on a great run at the moment, winning three of their last four. They are known for their defense, but the offense has shown up with 17 goals in that four-game span; they had six each against the Ducks and Blue Jackets but an impressive four against the Rangers. Still, they'll lean on Connor Hellebuyck, who is the clear Vezina Trophy favorite.

The Islanders need to apologize to their fans. A couple of weeks ago, they got them excited by winning six straight and moving them into a playoff spot, but they have recorded one point in their last six. They're averaging just 1.5 goals in this losing streak, and Ilya Sorokin has been abysmal in the net, allowing 3.60 goals and a .878 save percentage in his last five games.

The Islanders have no offense and now they have to face the best goalie in the league. Their losing streak will hit seven.

Pick: Jets Moneyline (-130)

Florida Panthers (-110) at New York Rangers (-110) | O/U 6 (-115/-105)

This could realistically be a preview of the Eastern Conference Finals. Every good team hits a rough patch, and the Panthers are in the middle of that now. They've dropped the last three, and the offense has been shut out twice. They matched up against Juuse Saros and Frederik Andersen, two very good goalies, but it isn't like this team to come up blank.

They get another tough goalie in Igor Shesterkin, who had one bad game against the Lightning, but he has two shutouts in his last five with a .925 save percentage. They aren't the most dangerous offense with a 48.21% expected goal share on full strength but don't give them the power play because they're converting at 25.5%.

Can Florida get out of this funk? This is still one of the best teams in the league, and they have a couple of weeks to get it right. Both of these games have totaled exactly six goals, but with how Florida has been offensively, this game could go below that.

Pick: Under 6 Total Goals (-105)

Boston Bruins (-132) at Philadelphia Flyers (+124) | O/U 6 (-110/-110)

The Bruins won't be breaking any records this year, but they are in a position to be the top seed again. They've only won nine of their 17 but have 23 points in that span because they've sent five of those games into overtime. The offense has been much better in that span, scoring 3.41 goals, which they've needed because the goaltending has been subpar, allowing 3.23 goals.

At the moment, the Flyers are fighting for their playoff lives. They are currently third in the Metropolitan but are just two points up on the Capitals and would be behind Tampa Bay in the second Wild Card if Washington overtook them. Not known for their offense, the top-line forwards are playing well, with Owen Tippett, Joel Farabee, and Morgan Frost each having three goals in their last five games. Samuel Ersson will be between the pipes, and when he's on, he's a wall, but he's struggling lately with a .874 save percentage.

The coin flip on the total are good odds, and with how well each offense has been and the goaltending has struggled (like their most recent matchup) this should hit the Over.
