It has been an another weird scheduling week in the NHL with a slim two-game slate on Friday, the league returns with another jam-packed 15-game docket tonight. I've got you covered from a sports betting angle, as I've narrowed in on a duo of best bets from the seemingly endless betting board. Here are my top NHL picks and bets for Saturday, April 4th.
Saturday's Best NHL Bets
Season: 3-1 | Last: 1-1 | Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook
Montreal Canadiens (-125) vs. New Jersey Devils (+105) | O/U 6.5 (+100/-120)
The Montreal Canadiens carry a seven-game winning streak into Jersey on Saturday night. The Habs have also won eight of their last nine contests, including five of their last six on the road. Montreal is 22-8-8 on the road this season.
The New Jersey Devils are winners of seven of their last 10 games themselves and are 20-15-2 at home this season. This includes a current four-game home winning streak.
The Canadiens have five more wins and 18 more points than the New Jersey Devils. Despite some good recent/home metrics for the Devils, I expect Montreal to take home its eighth straight win. There is a reason the Habs are jockeying for the Atlantic Division and Eastern Conference home-ice spots, while New Jersey is on the verge of statistical elimination, eight points out of the last wild-card spot with seven games remaining.
Pick: Canadiens Moneyline (-125)
Nashville Predators (-105) vs. San Jose Sharks (-115) | O/U 6.5 (+100/-120)
Don’t look now but the San Jose Sharks just might make the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The surging Sharks have won four straight while scoring 16 goals in the process. This streak does come on the heels of a five-game skid, but even so, the Sea Dogs are still 6-4-1 during that stretch. Additionally, three of the four wins on their current heater have come at home.
These two squads are currently tied at 79 points with San Jose currently holding the final Western Conference wild card spot. This game has huge playoff implications and I expect the Sharks to make it five in a row and strengthen their hold on that final spot. If they can hold on, their reward is a matchup with the Colorado Avalanche, so be careful what you wish for!
Chomp, chomp! Back the Bite!
Pick: Sharks Moneyline (-115)
