In four starts this year, Dormady has passed for 269, 164, 55 and 142 yards. He’s averaged 157.5 passing yards per start, with a median of 153, clearing this week’s line only once. He passed for just 164 yards against the Renegades in Week 5. Even if Dormady isn’t lifted early, 182.5 passing yards might be a bar too high to clear.
Jontre Kirklin UNDER 47.5 Receiving Yards
Reading the tea leaves, the Brahmas are equipped to utilize a ground-and-pound approach against the Renegades. Anthony McFarland will be active for the first time since Week 3, joining John Lovett and Morgan Ellison to form a stable. In addition, wide receivers Justin Smith and Landen Akers are inactive, removing two of San Antonio’s top pass-catching weapons from the mix.
On one hand, Jontre Kirklin will have less target competition. On the other hand, it would behoove offensive coordinator A.J. Smith to lean on his backfield to ease the pressure on Dormady. San Antonio’s starting quarterback threw three interceptions against Arlington in Week 5. Conversely, their backfield had eye-catching success. According to Pro Football Focus (PFF), San Antonio’s running backs had 179 rushing yards on 21 attempts.
Arlington held Kirklin to 43 receiving yards on nine targets and six receptions in the first meeting. Since opening the season on a heater, Kirklin has gone under 47.5 receiving yards in his past three games. Thus, he’s had over 47.5 receiving yards only once in Dormady’s four starts. According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the Brahmas are 3.5-point favorites at home this week, enhancing the likelihood of a run-heavy game script for San Antonio. In turn, Dormady’s and Kirklin’s correlated unders are enticing PrizePicks choices.
Tyler Vaughns UNDER 44.5 Receiving Yards
Since Week 4, Tyler Vaughns has had over 44.5 receiving yards once, narrowly eclipsing that mark with 45 receiving yards against the Brahmas in Week 5. According to PFF, Vaughns was first on the Renegades in routes (106) but only third in targets (18), tied for third in receptions (13), third in receiving yards (114) and sixth in yards per route run (1.08 Y/RR) in that period.
Moreover, for the season, Vaughns has averaged 44 receiving yards per game with a median of 41. He was under 44.5 receiving yards in two of three road contests, averaging 32.7 receiving yards per game with a median of 28 in that sample. Finally, the Brahmas can chew up the clock and limit Arlington’s offense’s opportunities if the Renegades can’t stop San Antonio on the ground again in the rematch.
