    Wizards vs. Pacers

If you’ve been reading these SGP articles of mine, you’ll know that anytime one of these teams is playing, they’re featured, and for good reason. These are the fastest teams in the NBA, ranking in the top two in terms of pace. Neither squad plays defense either, and both are in the bottom five in defensive net rating. That sets up a back-and-forth scoring affair with a massive 251.5 game total.

The best place to attack the Pacers is inside the paint, where they have ceded the most points to opponents. Kyle Kuzma scores roughly half of his points down low and is the most trusted scoring option for the team, averaging 22.6 points per game. In games with 29+ minutes, he has scored at least 22 in 19-of-28 games (68%). Kuzma scored 31 and 25 points in two matchups with Indiana this year.

Tyrese Haliburton is out for the foreseeable future, which is a massive blow to the Pacers squad. He’s the face of the team, and I’d love to target TJ McConnell or Bennedict Mathurin in this spot, but at the time of this writing, neither of their props have been released. Another solid target to look to in Haliburton’s absence is Bruce Brown Jr. We’re only asking for 12 points out of the guy, and he’s averaging 11.7 per game on the season. In three games without Hali, he has scored three (21 minutes vs BOS), 30 (37 minutes vs MIA), and 17 points (27 minutes vs MIN). In their two meetings, Brown put up 24 and four points against Washington. Brown has averaged the second-most minutes per game (30.0 MPG) on Indiana, only behind Haliburton (33.4).

If the Wizards are going to keep this close, Tyus Jones is going to be racking up the assists in this one. In games where he has played 27+ minutes, he has recorded six or more assists in 17-of-21 games. Jones is averaging 6.85 assists per game with that much time on the floor and had 11 and six assists in his two previous matchups against Indiana. Washington obviously isn’t a good team to be backing, but without Haliburton, this game should remain close, at least in theory.
