WNBA Odds, Picks & Predictions: Sunday (8/13)

We’ve got four games on the WNBA slate tonight, including a couple of later matchups that will be played in the nighttime.

The Mercury-Storm matchup isn’t appealing for any playoff opportunity. But that game should be the closest and tightest game of the slate. I’ve got the best bet in that game and the Dream-Aces game.

Today’s Best WNBA Bets

All wagers are for 1 unit. | Odds courtesy of Caesars Sportsbook.

Phoenix Mercury vs. Seattle Storm

The Mercury and Storm have played three games against one another this season. This matchup will be the final time these teams play one another. The Storm have defeated the Mercury in all three games while scoring at least 97 points in two of the three games.

However, the Mercury have played better basketball recently. Phoenix has won three of their last four games and has added 90+ in four straight games. Meanwhile, Seattle only added 68 in a tight win over the Dream in its most recent matchup.

Phoenix has shot the ball at a higher rate this season. They’ve hit .448 from the field and have scored 78 points. On the other hand, the Storm have shot .406 from the field and added 78.2 points per game.

The Mercury and Storm are similar. The Mercury will shoot at a higher percentage, while the Storm will likely add more rebounds.

Neither team even has 10 wins yet. However, a win tonight would be Phoenix’s 10th. After a 90-84 win against Connecticut, it’s clear that the Mercruy are starting to gel in the second half of the season. Phoenix added 45 points in the first quarter of their game against the Sun, which was a WNBA record. They’re led by Brittany Griner, who added 21 points in that game to go along with 10 rebounds. Diana Taurasi is also one of the stars of the team.

Give me Phoenix on the road with the points.

Bet: Mercury +1.5 (-110)

Atlanta Dream vs. Las Vegas Aces

The Atlanta Dream could get over .500 with a win against the Las Vegas Aces tonight.

However, the probability of that is low. The Aces are 16.5-point favorites in tonight’s matchup. Las Vegas has scored at least 104 points or more in three of their last five games. The Aces have also lost just three games all year and none at home.

The Aces will be home tonight. They’ve beaten the Dream multiple times this season, including a 21-point win on their home floor on August 1, 93-72.

Atlanta is coming into this game as the losers of three of their last four games. The offense has been feeble, and they won’t be able to keep up with the Aces. In their previous game, Atlanta’s starting lineup only had two players in double-figures against the Aces.

Meanwhile, the Aces got 15 points in 18 minutes from Kierstan Bell in their last meeting against the Dream. She typically averages 4.3 points per game.

Las Vegas has all of the offense to dominate the Dream tonight. Another 20-point win should be in the cards tonight.

Take the Aces -16.5. They’re excellent at home.

Bet: Aces -16.5  (-110)
