NFL Preseason Bets
Chiefs vs. Saints
It doesn't come with the same fanfare that Thursday night, Week 1, at Arrowhead, will bring, but the Chiefs will return to the field for the first time since winning Super Bowl LVII. They travel to New Orleans to take on the Saints. If last year is any indication of what we'll see, you can expect the starters to play no more than one series. The Saints aren't likely to play their starters much more, but with a new face in Derek Carr under center, it wouldn't shock me to see additional reps. This could make all the difference in a game that looks low-scoring. New Orleans boasted a top-ten defense last year, and HC Dennis Allen is a defensive specialist that knows this team's identity is on that side of the ball. They have depth, especially in the secondary, and it could spell a long day for the Chiefs' offense. This is a clear under play to wrap up Preseason Week 1.
Pick: Under 37.5 (-110)
MLB Best Bets
Los Angeles Angels vs. Houston Astros
The Houston Astros will send out Jose Urquidy for another start. Urquidy was injured for most of the season, but he's finally back now. He hasn't settled in yet.
This season, he's allowed a .218 ISO and wOBA of .377 while giving up over 30% of fly balls and nearly 26% of line drives. In his first start back, he faced 16 batters, allowed 18.8% of walks, and only struck out 6.2%.
Meanwhile, the Angels have hit righties well recently. They've struck out at a high rate, but if strikeouts go down, they'll be in great shape. Los Angeles has hit a .201 ISO and wOBA of .339 against righties over the last month with their projected lineup. Shohei Ohtani and Mike Moustakas are batters to watch on the Angels.
On the other hand, Chase Silseth will take the hill for the Angels. Silseth has earned a high rate of strikeouts and has limited walks. However, the Astros only have two batters striking out more than 19.1% of the time against righties. Silseth has still allowed a .219 ISO over the last month and has given up 26.3% of fly balls.
Houston has hit a .204 ISO and wOBA of .368 against righties over the last 30 days. They have a ton of power in that lineup and should take advantage of several Silseth mistakes.
Let's back the Over 9.
Bet: Over 9 (-120)

Big 3 Best Bets
Killer 3's vs. Ghost Ballers
The Killer 3's might be the best team in the league right now. Last week, they opened up a 25-14 lead over Power, then held on for the 51-46 win. What could have been a letdown game after an 18-point win over the Triplets instead proved to be a defining moment in the season for a team that now leads the league in points for and points against. This week, they get the Ghost Ballers. Last week, the Ghost Ballers stayed true to who they are when they were blown out by Trilogy. This is a team that gets their wins against good teams but struggles mightily against the top teams in the league. The Killer 3's are the hottest team in the league, and even with a 4.5-point spread, we're backing the favorites.
Pick: Killer 3's -4.5 (-115)
WNBA Best Bets
Phoenix Mercury vs. Seattle Storm
The Mercury and Storm have played three games against one another this season. This matchup will be the final time these teams play one another. The Storm have defeated the Mercury in all three games while scoring at least 97 points in two of the three games.
However, the Mercury have played better basketball recently. Phoenix has won three of their last four games and has added 90+ in four straight games. Meanwhile, Seattle only added 68 in a tight win over the Dream in its most recent matchup.
Phoenix has shot the ball at a higher rate this season. They've hit .448 from the field and have scored 78 points. On the other hand, the Storm have shot .406 from the field and added 78.2 points per game.
The Mercury and Storm are similar. The Mercury will shoot at a higher percentage, while the Storm will likely add more rebounds.
Neither team even has 10 wins yet. However, a win tonight would be Phoenix's 10th. After a 90-84 win against Connecticut, it's clear that the Mercruy are starting to gel in the second half of the season. Phoenix added 45 points in the first quarter of their game against the Sun, which was a WNBA record. They're led by Brittany Griner, who added 21 points in that game to go along with 10 rebounds. Diana Taurasi is also one of the stars of the team.
Give me Phoenix on the road with the points.
Bet: Mercury +1.5 (-110)
