Los Angeles Angels vs. Houston Astros

The Houston Astros will send out Jose Urquidy for another start. Urquidy was injured for most of the season, but he’s finally back now. He hasn’t settled in yet.

This season, he’s allowed a .218 ISO and wOBA of .377 while giving up over 30% of fly balls and nearly 26% of line drives. In his first start back, he faced 16 batters, allowed 18.8% of walks, and only struck out 6.2%.

Meanwhile, the Angels have hit righties well recently. They’ve struck out at a high rate, but if strikeouts go down, they’ll be in great shape. Los Angeles has hit a .201 ISO and wOBA of .339 against righties over the last month with their projected lineup. Shohei Ohtani and Mike Moustakas are batters to watch on the Angels.

On the other hand, Chase Silseth will take the hill for the Angels. Silseth has earned a high rate of strikeouts and has limited walks. However, the Astros only have two batters striking out more than 19.1% of the time against righties. Silseth has still allowed a .219 ISO over the last month and has given up 26.3% of fly balls.

Houston has hit a .204 ISO and wOBA of .368 against righties over the last 30 days. They have a ton of power in that lineup and should take advantage of several Silseth mistakes.

Let’s back the Over 9.

Bet: Over 9 (-120)

San Diego Padres vs. Arizona Diamondbacks

The Diamondbacks will send out rookie pitcher Brandon Pfaadt for today’s game. Pfaadt struggled in his first stint with the Diamondbacks this season. But he’s been better recently. He’s always kept walks down and has seen a tick-up in his strikeout rate. However, he’s still allowing a .209 ISO and over 30% of fly balls over the last month.

Pfaadt has allowed a 50.9% hard contact rate this season and struggles to earn strikeouts against righties.

The Padres have struck out only 19.8% of the time against other righties in the last month and should have more righties than lefties in the lineup tonight.

Meanwhile, Seth Lugo will get the call for the Padres. The former relief pitcher has struck out over 26% of batters in the last month. He’s struggled slightly against lefties, but the Diamondbacks offense has fallen off in the second half. The Diamondbacks only have two lefties that have hit an above-average ISO and wOBA over the last month.

Lugo earns decent ground balls and has limited line drives to under 24% over the last month.

I’ll take the Padres in this one.

Bet: Padres (-142)
