Paige Bueckers Over 1.5 Made Three-Pointers (-137)
The red-hot Wings host the Mercury on Saturday as Paige Bueckers and company look to improve their postseason positioning. This is an interesting matchup for the Wings, as the Mercury have one of the worst three-point defenses in the league, but the Wings don't rely much on the deep shot.
Phoenix ranks near the bottom of the league in opponents’ three-point attempts/field-goal attempts, as well as opponents’ three-point shooting. Over 40% of opponent shots are from beyond the arc, and they make them at a 35.9% clip. This should mean plenty of opportunities, especially for Bueckers. She’s averaging only 4.6 three-point attempts per game, but she's shooting almost 40% from deep. We can expect a slight uptick in three-point attempts against this defense.
Bueckers has played just one other game against Phoenix this season - she attempted 20 shots, including five from deep. She connected on three and would have easily cleared this number. There's no reason to think she can't replicate that success and maybe even put up more attempts. I'll be backing her to go over this number on Saturday.
Angel Reese Over 12.5 Rebounds (-137)
Angel Reese and the Dream take on the Chicago Sky on Saturday in what will be the third matchup between the star big and her former team. The previous matchup saw Reese play her fewest minutes of the season, scoring only eight points and recording a season-low five rebounds. Those numbers might scare you off from the over here, but she dominated the first game with 17 points and 17 rebounds.
Looking at the rebounding rates for the Sky this season, you can see why there is an appetite to trust the first performance. The Sky rank third-worst in the league in offensive rebounding rating, and their defensive rebounding rate also sits in the bottom half of the league. They're a very poor shooting team, which means there will be plenty of rebounding opportunities for Reese to grab.
The Dream are still looking to lock up a top four seed and host a first-round series. A win would go a long way towards that, so expect Reese to make a lot of plays unless this turns into a blowout; in that case, she will likely rack up rebounds quickly. Either way, this is a strong play for the league's best rebounder against a poor-shooting and poor-rebounding opponent that Reese has a personal reason to want to show up against.
