The WNBA has just a single game on the schedule for Saturday, Aug. 31, as college football dominates the sporting landscape on this holiday weekend. The Connecticut Sun and the Washington Mystics battle in the nation’s capital at 3 p.m. ET, and the game can be streamed on WNBA’s League Pass.
Just because there is one game doesn’t mean we can’t find some solid Same Game Parlay (SGP) opportunities. Let’s get started.

(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)
Connecticut Sun at Washington Mystics
- Leg 1: Mystics +8 (-110)
- Leg 2: Under 154.5 Total Points (-110)
- Leg 3: Brionna Jones To Score 10+ Points (-275)
The Sun (22-8) travel to meet the Mystics (9-22) for the standalone game. While the records couldn’t be any more different, it’s Washington that’s actually tied for the longest current winning streak in The W with three consecutive victories. The red-hot Indiana Fever and the lowly Dallas Wings are also in the midst of three-game winning streaks at the moment.
On the surface, backing Washington looks like a terrible play, as it is just 4-11 straight up (SU) at home while posting a dismal 4-10 record inside the conference, and a minus-4.3 point differential, which is fourth-worst in the league. However, the Mystics have been figuring out a way to get the job done at the betting window, covering each of the past four outings. The cover thing isn’t new for Washington, either, as it is on a long-term streak, going 16-5 against the spread (ATS) in the past 21 outings dating back to June 7. That includes a 94-91 overtime loss at home to the Sun on June 27 in the most recent meeting as an 11-point underdog.
This is the fourth meeting of the season, and while Connecticut has won all three of those battles, two have been decided by seven or fewer points, with Washington going 2-1 ATS in the span.
In the meeting on June 27 at St. Elizabeth’s East Entertainment and Sports Arena, the Mystics shot 51% from the field (35-of-68) with 39% (11-of-28) from downtown. The difference was at the free-throw line, as Washington misfired five times on 15 attempts, with the Sun notching 11 more successful free throws. Washington actually outrebounded Connecticut by a 31-to-30 margin, and, again, the Mystics were sloppy with 23 turnovers, while the Sun had just 10. That’s the difference between good and bad teams and wins and losses.
While Connecticut is expected to win again, it’s 0-7 ATS in the past seven tries when favored by eight or more points. Back Washington catching the four buckets at home.
As far as the total, it’s all about the Under, which has hit in four of the past five outings for the Sun. The total has gone low in eight of the past 12 outings for Connecticut, too.
For Washington, the total has gone low in four straight contests, while cashing at a 9-4 clip in the previous 13 outings dating back to June 29. Let’s go low, and feel confident in doing so.
As far as player props are concerned, we’re looking to Brionna Jones for the bounceback. She had a dismal two points on 1-of-6 shooting at Indiana with three turnovers. That snapped a nine-game streak with 11 or more points. Backing her to get to at least 10 points is a strong bet. She hasn’t had consecutive outings with single digits since June 27-28, although it is a bit concerning that one of those opponents in the skid was against the Mystics in overtime, no less.

Connecticut Sun at Washington Mystics
- Leg 1: Mystics +8 (-110)
- Leg 2: Under 154.5 Total Points (-110)
- Leg 3: Brionna Jones To Score 10+ Points (-275)
- Leg 4: Brittney Sykes To Record 4+ Rebounds (-198)
- Leg 5: DiJonai Carrington To Score 10+ Points (-350)
In a second SGP, we’ll still play the Mystics and the Under, as well as Jones, but let’s look to Brittney Sykes to snag at least four rebounds, too. She had a poor game in Chicago last time out, managing just six points and three rebounds, but prior to that she averaged 5.3 rebounds per game (RPG) in three prior games, and she had four or more boards in four of six games in the month of August.
And in the fifth leg, let’s roll with DiJonai Carrington of the Sun to get to double digits in points, too. She racked up 19 points with six steals, four rebounds and two assists in 32 minutes at Indiana last time out on Wednesday, and she has 13 or more points in three of the past four games. In that OT win in D.C. in late June, Carrington dropped 22 points in 32 minutes, including four three-pointers. She is averaging 15.7 PPG in three games against the Mystics this season.
