It’s actually surprising that the WNBA has two games on the slate for Thursday night, which goes up against the National Football League’s opener in Kansas City. The Seattle Storm and New York Liberty meet at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, with a 7 p.m. ET tip-off time. The game can be streamed on Amazon’s Prime Video. And, at 10 p.m. ET, the Washington Mystics and Phoenix Mercury meet at Footprint Center, also on Prime Video.

Seattle Storm at New York Liberty

The Storm (20-13) and the Liberty (27-6) square off at Barclays Center on Thursday night. These teams just met at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle on Friday, with the Liberty coming away with a 98-85 victory as a 4-point favorite while the Over (163) connected. There were some amazing stats to come out of that game, too.
New York shot 50.7% (34-of-67) from the field, while going 46.2% (12-of-26) from behind the 3-point line while posting a 90.0% (18-of-20) mark from the free throw line. On the flip side, Seattle was a solid 46.5% (33-of-71) from the floor, but just 21.7% (5-of-23) from beyond the arc. They also went to the line five fewer times, hitting 93.3% (14-of-15) from the stripe. However, while the Storm had just five turnovers for the entire game, they also managed just 17 rebounds, while the Liberty had 45 boards. A plus-28 rebound differential cannot happen if the Storm is going to have any modicum of success.
In the 98-85 win, Breanna Stewart was shooting out of her mind, hitting 10-of-16 from the field, and 3-of-4 from behind the 3-point line, going for 32 points, six assists, and five rebounds while also hitting 9-of-10 from the charity stripe. Sabrina Ionescu was good for 25 points, eight assists, and eight rebounds with three triples. While Jonquel Jones managed just six points, she made up for it with 11 rebounds and two blocked shots.
For the Storm, Skylar Diggins-Smith led the way with 26 points, seven assists, and a blocked shot, while Jewell Loyd was good for 20 points, although she hit only 5-of-17 from the field. She made up for things with an 8-of-8 free throw night. Ezi Magbegor was in foul trouble, managing just six points with four fouls in just 29 minutes.
Seattle posted a 71-64 victory at Connecticut on Tuesday in the second end of a back-to-back set, snapping a 0-9 against the spread (ATS) skid. The Under (159) cashed against the Sun, halting a 3-0 run to the Over, including the most recent Liberty game.
New York is just 2-2 straight up (SU) in the past four outings, but it still leads The W by three games over the Sun. New York is 14-2 at home this season, the best record in the league, while posting a plus-9.5 point differential, which also leads the league.
The Liberty have won six straight meetings since May 30, 2023, while the Storm hold a 4-2 ATS mark during that span. The Storm have been terrible ATS lately, though, and they cannot be trusted, especially after just losing by 13 on their home floor last week to the Lib.
Looking at the player props, Magbegor was in foul trouble in the most recent meeting, and she was limited to six points. That’s nearly half of her season average of 11.9 PPG. While the 25-year-old appears to be hitting a wall of sorts, going for double digits just twice in the past nine outings, look for her to get the job done. She is a value at this price.
We’ll back Loyd to hit at least two triples, and since we’re at it, we’ll also take B-Stew to do the same for a potentially giant payoff. And, if Magbegor is just a little too risky, leaving her out of the SGP still pays +714
WNBA Same Game Parlay Odds: +1290
Washington Mystics at Phoenix Mercury
- Leg 1: Mercury -5.5 (-110)
- Leg 2: Over 165.5 Total Points (-112)
- Leg 3: Natasha Cloud 10+ Points (+104)
- Leg 4: Brittney Griner 15+ Points (-260)
The Mystics (10-23) and the Mercury (17-17) tangle at Footprint Center in the Valley of the Sun. Washington has been playing good basketball lately, winning four of the past five outings, while also going 5-1 ATS in the previous six contests. The Over has hit in the past two games, the first time the total has gone high in consecutive games since a 5-0 run to the Over from June 14-27.
These teams met in the nation’s capital on July 16, with the Mercury coming away with a high-scoring 96-87 victory as a 4.5-point favorite while the Over (168.5) cashed. Phoenix shot 53.8% (35-of-65) from the field, and 44.4% (8-of-18) from downtown, while posting just nine turnovers. Brittney Griner was good for 23 points and seven boards, while Natasha Cloud managed 12 points, 10 assists, and nine rebounds, just missing the triple-double. She is back from a one-game suspension after picking up her seventh technical foul of the season. Kahleah Copper also chipped in with 22 points on 9-of-16 shooting in the win.
For the Mystics, Shakira Austin will once again be sidelined due to an ankle injury which means Stephanie Dolson is likely to start. She had a hard time against Griner in the most recent game, going for just eight points on 2-of-7 shooting, while posting eight rebounds, five assists, and a steal. The Mystics did have balanced scoring, with five players getting 10 or more points, including Myisha Hines-Allen with 18 points and 12 rebounds.
While Washington has been hot lately, Phoenix won by nine in DC. in the most recent meeting. The Mercury are the play again and the Over hit in that game while going 7-5-1 in the past 13 games for the Merc. For the Mystics, the Over has cashed in two in a row, averaging 87.5 PPG, while allowing 91.0 PPG. Let’s go high.
For player props, Cloud is rested after missing the most recent game due to suspension. She’ll be champing at the bit after going 2-of-12 against the Aces in a forgettable performance. Cloud is a good bet to get to double digits, and at plus-money she is a value. Griner has dominated the Mystics and will benefit from no Austin in the middle. She has 16 or more points in four of the past five games and is a good bet to get to the 15+ threshold again on Thursday.
