2022 Tour Championship: Tony Finau Betting Odds, Preview & Prediction

The PGA Tour’s 2021-2022 season comes to an end with this week’s Tour Championship. The top 30 players in the FedEx Cup standings will compete for a $65 million purse, including a first-place prize of $18 million. No pressure, huh?

Defending champ Patrick Cantlay will be part of the field at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta. The tournament uses a Starting Strokes scoring system, effectively giving players a head start based on their position in the FedEx Cup point standings. As last season’s point leader, Cantlay began the Tour Championship at -10 and eventually finished at -21 on the par-70 host course. This year, Scottie Scheffler enters the Tour Championship as the leader in the FedEx Cup point standings, followed by Cantlay (who won last week’s BMW Championship) and Will Zalatoris. Tony Finau has really hit his stride over in this tournament. Finishing in the top ten twice over his last three appearances is no joke, and he should be taken seriously yet again. Look for a strong showing as history should repeat itself again. He had a serious shot at winning in 2018 and 2020, but he fell short each time. He did finish respectably, though, with top ten finishes each time.

Finau is on a great run of golf lately, winning two PGA tournaments in his last four times competing. He has two wins and two second place finishes out of 24 events. That’s impressive in its own right and he has four other top 25 finishes. Look for him to close this year out strong as both wins are in his last four outings!

Tony Finau has had a great year, having the ability to be among the top five golfers out at each tournament. At this tournament, I think the price is fair in terms of value, but I think he is undervalued compared to the other golfers in front of him.
