2024 Paris Olympics Soccer Best Bets (Sunday)

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Brazil (+190) vs. Japan (+145), DRAW (+240) | 2.5 (-105/-120)

Matchday two gets underway with a heavyweight contest in Group C between Brazil and Japan. The South American country took care of business in their opener, beating Nigeria 1-0. Japan fell to Spain in a 2-1 affair on Thursday. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. ET from Parc des Princes in Paris, France.

This will be the second time this year that these countries square off in a competitive capacity. The two sides played to a 1-1 draw in the third-place match of the SheBelieves Cup in April, where Brazil eventually went on to win 3-0 in penalties. These squads typically always take care of business when playing down the rankings, but that won't be the case here. They're very evenly matched, and I think it's worth a shot on playing the draw at +240.

Speaking of being evenly matched, the FIFA rankings put Japan at seventh and Brazil at ninth. Japan is desperate for a result after losing a tight game to Spain in the opener, which makes me think they'll at least come away with a point. I can see this match ending in the 1-1 range, so I'm going to throw a few bucks on the draw.

Bet: Draw (+240)

USA (+115) vs. Germany (+240), DRAW (+240) | 2.5 (-110/-115)

The marquee match of the day comes in the late window as Team USA takes on Germany. Both nations cruised to 3-0 wins in their opening games, beating Zambia and Australia, respectively. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m. ET from Orange Vélodrome in Marseille, France.

Perhaps there's a bit of bias with my patriotism to the United States, but at the same time, I think the stats and recent form point to the Stars and Stripes coming away with a victory on Sunday. For starters, the United States of America has owned Germany head-to-head, going 23-7-5 against them in the overall series. In the Olympics and World Cup, they're 4-0-1.

Germany really hasn't been as much of a juggernaut on the world stage recently, as they got bounced out of the World Cup group stage last year. They also logged a third-place finish in the UEFA Nations League, losing 2-1 to France in the semis of the tournament. Meanwhile, the USA is an unbeaten 7-3-0 in their last 10 matches across all competitions, which includes winning the SheBelieves Cup 2-2 (5-4 P) against Canada. They haven't conceded a goal in five straight matches, and if the defense plays anywhere near that level, they should handle the Germans.

Bet: USA Moneyline (+115)

France (-180) vs. Canada (+500), DRAW (+330) | 2.5 (-130/+100)

The other late-window contest pits the hosts, France, against Canada in a Group A contest. Both teams emerged victorious in their opening matches, which means this high-leverage match will likely determine the winner of the group. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m. ET from Stade Geoffroy-Guichard in Saint-Etienne, France.

I'm going to lay the juice and play France to win this match outright. For starters, they'll have the whole nation behind them as they play a home match that's technically a neutral-site fixture. I paid close attention to the men's rugby 7s tournament earlier in the week, and it was clear that the French squad had a home-pitch advantage en route to their gold medal-winning efforts. At first, I wasn't sure how much of an impact that it'd have, but it's obvious to me now. This will be an angle to keep an eye on moving forward.

The most recent action we have from Canada on the world stage is when they bowed out of the World Cup group stage last year. They posted a 1-1-1 record while going -3 in the goal differential column. In the same tournament, France made it to the quarter-final round before losing to the hosts, Australia, in a 0-0 match that went to penalties (7-6). Look at that, we've come full circle to the home-pitch advantage argument already! Ultimately, France is the second-ranked FIFA women's team, while Canada comes in at eighth. This should be a close contest, but I believe the hosts will come away with the three points.

Bet: France Moneyline (-180)
