National League vs. American League
The American League will start this game with left-handed starter Tarik Skubal. The Tigers ace has a 10-3 record with a 2.33 ERA this season. He’s also struck out 35.3% of batters over the last 30 days and has limited his last 119 batters to a .127 ISO and wOBA of .242. Skubal is currently the favorite to win back-to-back Cy Youngs in the American League and has easily been the best pitcher through the first half of the season in the American League.
On the other hand, Paul Skenes will get the call for the National League. Skenes started last year’s All-Star game and will get that same opportunity this year. While he has a 2.01 ERA on the year, Skenes is still just 4-8 on the season. The Pirates don’t score when he’s on the mound, but Skenes has been electric. Skenes has struck out 32.7% of batters over the last 30 days, and has limited his last 104 batters to a .085 ISO and wOBA of .285.
Don’t expect either pitcher to give up a run in the first inning.
Pick: No Runs First Inning (-180)
National League vs. American League
The consensus is that it’ll be a low-scoring game, with the total currently set at 7.0 (over is -120). The American League has been dominant over the last 25 years. However, the National League is currently the favorite anyway tonight.
The National League’s roster is a bit deeper. Additionally, the pitching staff features more flamethrowers. Ultimately, it’s full of pitchers who can add a high rate of strikeouts. There’s also versatility on the bench that could be useful in the second half of the game.
That said, the American League’s roster relies heavily on power. While that’s great and all, if the National League can throw pitches by those power hitters, it certainly won’t matter that the American League has power hitters.
Unfortunately, there were many opt-outs due to injuries and other circumstances. Many players weren’t selected for the roster at the start, who will likely play a major role in how this game unfolds. The 2025 MLB All-Star Game rosters have 15 combined replacements.
Still, the National League has a roster that stands out more. The lineup is loaded with young talent and pitchers capable of earning more whiffs and strikeouts. Therefore, consider the National League to finally win again.
Pick: National League Moneyline (-116)
