The MLB prop bet cheat sheet for Friday lists a whopping 67 player props with a 100% hit rate over the last five games - 13 of them labeled as 5-star bets.
The 5-star bet we settled on today is Blue Jays outfielder Brett Bateman to go over 0.5 runs - a feat he has accomplished in six straight games.
The Blue Jays’ leadoff hitter is in a good spot to cross home plate, averaging 4.1 at-bats per game this season. More at-bats mean more opportunities to get on base, which increases Bateman’s chances of scoring. He’s recorded at least four at-bats in five of his last six games, including a couple of five-at-bat outings.
The Blue Jays, as a whole, have averaged five runs over the last six games and have an implied team total of 3.5 runs tonight. Rangers starting pitcher Kumar Rocker is allowing 2.6 runs per game this season. He has no history versus Bateman, and in two career appearances against Toronto, he’s allowed just two runs over nine innings.
Looking at the splits, Kumar has allowed 46 of his 68 runs to lefties, such as Bateman, this season. The Blue Jays’ lineup should include four left-handed bats tonight. Two of the four career hits Rocker has allowed to the Blue Jays have come from George Springer and Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who are projected to bat 2-3 behind Bateman.
Bateman just needs to get on base to give his supporting sluggers an opportunity to drive him home. He currently has a 14-game streak of reaching base via a hit or a walk.
