Saturday's Best College Football Anytime Touchdown Scorers
(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Mark Fletcher Jr. (+145)
The first game of the day has Miami visiting Texas A&M. Miami's addition to the College Football Playoff was mildly controversial, but don't underestimate this team. They had a dominant defense and an offense that ran through the ACC. No player on the Miami offense broke the plane more than Mark Fletcher who did it 10 times on the ground and once through the air while only playing in 10 games on the season.
Texas A&M, despite a top four defense in total yards allowed, was actually middle of the pack in rush yards and rush touchdowns allowed for the season in the SEC. At 13 touchdowns allowed on the ground, they averaged more than one per game, including against Notre Dame who is perhaps the most analogous team to Miami that they played all year. With Mark Fletcher's ability to score in multiple ways for this offense, he's a good bet to find paydirt.
Trinidad Chambliss (-115)
Much like the Oklahoma and Alabama game yesterday, we've seen this matchup. It was thorough domination by the Ole Miss Rebels. Not only did Mississippi win 45-10, but they also outgained the Green Wave by nearly 300 yards. Ole Miss produced 5.7 yards per play on the ground in that game and was one of the best running teams in the SEC all season, scoring 32 touchdowns on the season. Kewan Lacy, the Rebel standout running back, led the way for the team with 20 scores but with his odds getting close to -500, there isn't enough value in the number.
With Lacy's price too steep, Trinidad Chambliss is worth a look. Chambliss finished second the team in both rush attempts and touchdowns. His ability to get involved in both scrambles as well as designed runs makes him a threat to score in nearly any game. In the previous matchup with Tulane he didn't score but he did lead the team in rushing with 114 yards on 14 carries. Expect Ole Miss to light up the scoreboard again and Chambliss to find the endzone in the rematch.
Wayne Knight (+210)
As three touchdown favorites it can be incredibly enticing to target Oregon players for Anytime Touchdowns, but James Madison should be getting more credit than they are. This is a team that was a dominant offense in the Sun Belt that scored 60 touchdowns on the season including 36 on the ground. Their premiere back, Wayne Knight, found the endzone 10 times including five times in the final five games of the year.
Despite only giving up nine touchdowns on the season, Oregon was a team that was susceptible to the run throughout the year. Indiana, Penn State, and Iowa were all strong running teams that were able to find the endzone against the Ducks. Washington ended the season with a solid 4.7 yards per run despite being unable to score. James Madison was a top 20 team in EPA per play running and led by Wayne Knight they should have success in this game with Knight finding pay dirt.
