Diamondbacks vs. Phillies

We’re going to attack Merrill Kelly again. Kelly pitched in Game 2 of the NLCS and allowed three home runs in 5.2 innings. The right-hander only gave up three hits, but those three hits were homers and they add up.

Kelly also struck out six but walked three, finishing with 89 pitches and four earned runs.

The right-hander has allowed a .323 ISO and wOBA of .346 to his last 36 lefties. He’s also allowed 25% of line drives and has induced only 37.5% of ground balls. He’s not very good against lefties.

Therefore, let’s attack with lefties who have hit righties hard recently.

Kyle Schwarber has smacked a .447 ISO and wOBA of .413 against his last 41 righties. He’s even struck out just 22% of the time against righties in the previous 30 days, which is not typical for him.

Meanwhile, fellow lefty Bryce Harper has hit a .519 ISO and wOBA of .608 against his last 37 righties. He’s another option for a long ball against Kelly.

Finally, Brandon Marsh, who will likely bat near the bottom of the order, has hit a .243 ISO and wOBA of .371 against his last 41 righties. He’s another left-handed hitter who has hit righties well lately.

Let’s attack Kelly with lefties. The Phillies defeated Arizona 10-0 when Kelly last took the mound in Game 2.
