Arizona Diamondbacks @ Baltimore Orioles

It’ll be Zac Gallen on the hill for the Diamondbacks tonight. The right-hander has been terrific against other righties, but he’s ultimately struggled against lefties this season. Gallen has allowed a .197 ISO and wOBA of .331 with only 21.9% of strikeouts against lefties to begin the season.

Gallen has also allowed 30.7% of line drives and 53.5% of hard contact to both righties and lefties. He’s not pitching like a true ace against lefties.

Meanwhile, the Orioles will likely have six lefties in the lineup. Those six lefties have hit a .221 ISO and wOBA of .337 against righties this season. Baltimore has plenty of potential against Gallen.

Meanwhile, Dean Kremer will get the call for the Orioles. He’s a righty who has allowed a .189 ISO but has minimized his wOBA, too, at 273 against 160 batters this year.

Kremer will face an Arizona lineup that has only hit a .120 ISO and wOBA of .295 against righties this season. The entire bottom portion of the order has little potential against righties.

Therefore, in this interleague matchup, let’s back the Orioles at -124 at home.

Chicago Cubs @ Pittsburgh Pirates

Yesterday, we saw a lot of offense, with everyone pumped up about Paul Skenes’ debut. However, the Pirates are typically really bad against righties and will face Kyle Hendricks in today’s matchup.

Hendricks has only struck out 15.1% of batters and allowed a high ISO and wOBA. However, he’s earned 46.3% of ground balls and has limited teams to 22% of fly balls. In addition, the Pirates’ probable lineup has hit a .122 ISO and wOBA of .295 against righties this season.

Meanwhile, the Cubs will face Bailey Falter of the Pirates. He’s a lefty who has also given up a high ISO number with low strikeouts. Falter has induced only 34.5% of ground balls and allowed more than 30% of fly balls. In these areas, Hendricks is ultimately the better pitcher in this matchup against Falter.

That said, the Cubs have already hit a .232 ISO and wOBA of .387 against lefties this season. Six batters in the Chicago lineup have at least hit a .167 ISO against lefties. Meanwhile, eight batters in the projected lineup have hit a wOBA of at least .317 against lefties. Chicago should put the ball in play plenty, especially since they’ve only struck out only 18.3% of the time. In addition, they’ve worked more than 10% of walks against lefties as a lineup this season. Lets take the Cubs on the road at -118.
