MLB Odds, Picks & Predictions: Sunday (6/16)

There’s nothing like a full slate of baseball games on Father’s Day!

There’s also nothing like earning a little bit of profit on a holiday. So here are two best bets for today’s MLB slate to try and do just that.

Sunday’s Best MLB Picks

Here are our top MLB picks for Sunday’s slate of baseball action.

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Baltimore Orioles

Today’s pitching matchup between the Phillies and Orioles is a must-watch TV.

Corbin Burnes will take the hill for the Orioles. He’s already held 342 batters to a .107 ISO and wOBA of .256 with 24% of strikeouts. While he’s struggled to earn strikeouts against lefties, Burnes has added 27.1% of strikeouts against them in the last 30 days. He’s also held lefties to a .044 ISO and wOBA of .170 over the previous month.

That’s encouraging, knowing he’ll have battles against lefties like Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper.

On the other hand, Zack Wheeler also had some struggles against lefties throughout the season. However, over the last 30 days, he’s helped bring those glaring numbers down a bit. He’s only allowed a .062 ISO and wOBA of .243 to lefties over the last 30 days.

That’s important with matchups against batters like Gunnar Henderson and Anthony Santander, who have both been red-hot against righties.

Ultimately, today’s duel should be epic. It could also end within two hours with these aces on the mound. Take the Under.

MLB Pick: Under 7 (-115)

Chicago White Sox vs. Arizona Diamondbacks

How many people have the guts to bet on the Chicago White Sox on Father’s Day?

Drew Thorpe will take the hill for the White Sox. He’s a rookie pitcher who has held his first 22 batters to a .236 wOBA. Today, he’ll face an Arizona lineup that has only hit a .151 ISO against righties over the last 30 days.

Thorpe only earned 18.2% of strikeouts, but he kept his walks down, earned about 44% of ground balls, and allowed just 25% of fly balls. There’s something there for Thorpe.

Meanwhile, the Diamondbacks will give Jordan Montgomery the ball. Montgomery is a lefty pitcher who has given up a .234 ISO and wOBA of .407 to his first 191 righties. Over the last 30 days, Montgomery has also allowed a .256 ISO and wOBA of .448 to righties.

In addition, Montgomery has earned just 11.5% of strikeouts against righties this season.

The bad news is the White Sox should have at least eight righties in the lineup. Tommy Pham, Andrew Vaughn, Paul DeJong, Corey Julks, Lenyn Sosa, and Danny Meendick have all hit above-average against lefties over the last 30 days. Ultimately, the White Sox have the advantage on both sides of the diamond.

Therefore, I’m not afraid to bet on the White Sox. I’ll play it safe and back the White Sox on the runline instead of the monyline. However, if you’re feeling brave, the moneyline at +180 is a solid payout and certainly has some value after looking through these stats.

MLB Pick: White Sox +1.5 (-142)
