Sunday’s Best MLB Picks & Bets
(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Washington Nationals vs. Los Angeles Angels MLB Picks
The Washington Nationals will give Mitchell Parker the start. The left-hander has given up a .223 ISO and wOBA of .343 against his last 111 batters. He’s also struck out 17.1% of batters over the last month and has allowed 30.6% of line drives with only 32.9% of ground balls induced.
On the other hand, the Angels have struck out 30.8% of the time against lefties. But that rate shouldn’t be nearly as high against Parker. Instead, the Angels should make more contact. They’ve hit 30% of fly balls as a projected lineup and almost 45% of hard contact against lefties in the last 30 days.
The Angels will run it back with Jack Kochanowicz. He’s also allowed a .247 ISO and wOBA of .413 over the last 30 days. Yet, he’ll battle a Nationals lineup that has struggled significantly more against righties. The Nationals have just three batters with a wOBA and ISO at above-average levels over the last 30 days. The projected lineup has also walked only 7.4% of the time against righties, while hitting nearly 47% of grounders and only 22.2% of fly balls.
The analytics certainly favor the Angels at home in today’s game. Let’s ride the Angels on the Moneyline.
Pick: Angels Moneyline (-134)
Miami Marlins vs. Arizona Diamondbacks MLB Picks
Eduardo Rodriguez will get another start for the Diamondbacks. The veteran lefty has held his last 80 righties to a .137 ISO and wOBA of .312. He’s also struck out more than 26% of righties in the previous 30 days and has limited righties to 19.2% of line drives during that time.
That said, he’ll likely face a Marlins lineup with nine righties. Ultimately, Rodriguez has struggled more against lefties throughout the last 30 days. If he gets to face nine righties, he’ll be in excellent shape.
Conversely, Cal Quantrill will get the call for the Marlins. The right-hander has allowed a .234 ISO and wOBA of .375 to his last 102 batters. He’s been way worse against righties, and he’ll have to face a red-hot Eugenio Suarez, along with Lourdes Gurriel. In addition, the Diamondbacks’ lineup has hit a .216 ISO and wOBA of .356 with fewer than 20% of strikeouts and 10.4% of walks over the last 30 days against righties.
Arizona has been much more consistent as an offense, and Rodriguez has dominated right-handed hitters over the last 30 days. Arizona’s lineup should have five batters with an ISO of at least .243 in the previous 30 days against righties. Quantrill has struck out below 15% of righties and has allowed 36.7% of line drives to righties in the last 30 days.
Let’s back the Diamondbacks on the run line at home.
Pick: Diamondbacks -1.5 (+102)
