Monday's Top MLB Player Props
(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Parker Messick Over 6.5 Strikeouts (+113)
At plus-money, it’s too tough to pass on the southpaw Parker Messick going up against the Rangers in Monday’s series opener from Progressive Field.
Messick allowed three runs, with two homers, in just 5.2 innings in a loss at Texas on June 5th, so there is some consternation here. However, he has also struck out 19 batters in the past two outings against teams above .500 (Brewers and White Sox).
The thinking here is that Messick, who has 50 strikeouts across 46.2 innings, keeps up his whiffing ways against the Rangers, even if he is only able to go five or so innings.
T.J. Rumfield Over 2.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (+125)
Let’s roll the dice on the red-hot T.J. Rumfield, even though he has a bit of a difficult matchup with Miami Marlins righty Sandy Alcantara toeing the slab for the visitors.
Rumfield heads into Monday’s contest at Coors Field on an 11-game hitting streak. He is hitting .405 (17-for-42) with three homers, 11 RBIs and four walks with five runs scored during the impressive span, slashing .405/.468/.690.
Rumfield doesn’t have much of a history against Alcantara, going hitless in two at-bats with a walk. We’ll bank on his momentum and the rarefied air in Denver to get him to extend his streak.
George Kirby Over 6.5 Strikeouts (-114) & Kirby Race to 3 Strikeouts vs. Ryan Johnson (-210)
George Kirby has an ultra-favorable matchup at T-Mobile Park against the visiting Los Angeles Angels, who strike out more than any other team in the Majors. The Halos have struck out 806 times across 85 games (9.48 per game).
Kirby isn’t necessarily known as a power pitcher, but he has 84 strikeouts across 96 innings, and he was able to record 10 strikeouts in a loss in Baltimore on June 10th. In four June starts, he has 25 strikeouts across 22 innings - more than one per inning.
The Mariners hurler was 3-0 with a 2.79 ERA and 37 strikeouts across 19.1 innings last season in three starts against the Angels. They hit just .152 against him. You might want to mix in some other Kirby props, too. We’ll take him to get to at least seven punchouts, and we’ll back him in the race to three strikeouts against the Angels starter Ryan Johnson.
Ketel Marte 2+ Total Bases (+108)
Arizona’s Ketel Marte has rolled up huge numbers in his brief dealings with San Francisco Giants probable starter Tyler Mahle:
- .533 (8-for-15)
- 3 doubles
- 3 homers
- 5 RBI
- 1 walk
- 1.133 slugging rate
- 1.696 OPS
The 32-year-old apparently sees the ball well out of Mahle’s hand, and he enters the game on a hot streak. He homered in the final two games of the weekend series at Tampa Bay, and he has long balls in three of his past four games. Ketel has 12 extra-base hits - six doubles and six homers - in June.
