Sunday’s Best MLB Player Props & Bets

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook unless otherwise specified)

Zack Wheeler Over 18.5 Outs Recorded (-210 at Hard Rock Bet)

It’s safe to say Zack Wheeler has surpassed expectations in his return from thoracic outlet decompression surgery. The three-time All-Star has impressed with a 2.01 ERA and 0.85 WHIP through 10 starts.

It’s worth mentioning that Wheeler has recorded at least 18 outs in nine of those 10 outings, despite tossing over 100 pitches just once. He is working quickly and efficiently, thanks in part to a career-best 35.9% chase rate.

The Mets are Wheeler’s next opponent under the bright lights on Sunday Night Baseball. New York’s .658 OPS on the road and .297 on-base percentage (OBP) versus right-handers both rank as bottom-three marks in the Majors.

Not only that, but the Mets have racked up the fourth-fewest hits with two outs (182). They are failing to extend innings and put added pressure on the pitchers toeing the rubber. Wheeler has the advantage, so don’t hesitate to bet on him to go beyond 18 outs.

Bryce Elder Under 4.5 Strikeouts (-144)

Bryce Elder has been a steady presence for Atlanta, posting a 3.15 ERA and 1.14 WHIP across 15 starts. However, strikeouts have not been his specialty.

The Texas native has averaged 7.4 strikeouts per nine innings and logged a 19.9% strikeout rate. Those numbers check in well below the MLB averages. Overall, Elder has tallied fewer than five strikeouts in five of his last six starts. Sunday brings a matchup with the Brewers at Truist Park.

Milwaukee is a controlled and methodical team. Manager Pat Murphy’s squad has registered the lowest chase rate (26%) and the third-lowest whiff rate (23.5%) in the National League.

That level of discipline has helped Brewers bats accumulate the second-fewest strikeouts in away games (283). Superstars like Cristopher Sanchez and Gavin Williams have failed to reach five strikeouts versus Milwaukee in the past week alone. Expect the same result for Elder.

Kazuma Okamoto to Hit a Home Run (+410)

It’s been an up-and-down campaign for Shota Imanaga. The Chicago southpaw’s previous 10 starts consist of five outings with two or fewer runs allowed and five outings with five or more runs allowed.

The long ball has plagued Imanaga all season. He has surrendered 17 home runs, which is tied for the sixth-highest total among MLB arms. Take note that 12 of those 17 blasts have come off the bat of right-handed hitters.

That puts Toronto’s Kazuma Okamoto in a good spot to go deep on Sunday. The Japanese slugger is a top-35 pro in hard-hit rate (49.7%), average exit velocity (92 miles per hour) and barrel rate (14.6%) in 2026.

Okamoto also leads the Blue Jays with nine homers on the road and four jacks against left-handed pitchers. Anyone in search of a bit more bang for their buck could opt to back Okamoto going yard twice at +4500 odds.
