Friday’s Best MLB PrizePicks Player Predictions
This Season: 53-40-2
This line is way higher than it should be. George Kirby has been solid this season, striking out 84 batters in 86.2 innings. However, he's only struck out more than 6.5 batters in five of his 15 starts this season. Most recently, he did it against the Oakland A's, one of the most strikeout-prone teams in the MLB.
The Marlins have struck out the ninth-fewest times of any team in the league. Kirby has very little experience against them, so it's shocking to see this number so high considering the matchup. If this were set at 5.5, we'd stay away, but at 6.5 the less than is a must-play.
Another shocking line is Chris Sale's strikeout total against the Yankees tonight. He has phenomenal numbers against the lineup, striking out 37 batters in 71 at-bats. A lot of that success has come against Aaron Judge, a batter he has struck out 16 times in 28 chances. However, even without Judge's numbers, Sale is striking out one Yankee for every 2.09 he faces.
This season, Sale has struck out 99 batters in 81.2 innings. He has struck out at least six batters in all but one of his starts. He has struck out at least seven in seven of his last eight games. The Yankees struggled in their series against the Baltimore Orioles. Those struggles will continue tonight against Sale.
Tyler O'Neill went 0-for-4 in his last game. But before that game, he recorded multiple hits in three consecutive. Five of his last six hits have been for extra bases, meaning all it will take is one swing of the bat for him to hit this over tonight.
Reds starter Andrew Abbott gives up a lot of hits. He's given up 70 in 79.0 innings this season and has allowed 13 home runs. Though O'Neill is 0-of-2 against Abbott in his career, this is still a solid matchup.
