Michael Grove Under 5.5 Strikeouts
This line really doesn't make any sense. Grove has thrown more than five strikeouts just once in his last five starts. He has pitched 6.0 or more innings just one time this season, and if he does get in trouble early, he will certainly be pulled, as he has not thrown 100 pitches in a game yet.
On top of that, Grove will face one of the best teams at making contact in the MLB. The Blue Jays are 25th in the league in total strikeouts with just 798 this season. Maybe this line is too good to be true, but you could take this down to under 3.5 and feel confident.
Henderson has been hitting really well since June 2nd. On that day, his batting average was .203. It's now up to .247. He has hit safely in 14 of his last 17 games, including a 2-4 performance against the Rays yesterday.
Henderson has never faced Cristopher Sanchez, but the Phillies starter has allowed at least three hits in all but one of his starts this season, despite never pitching more than 6.0 innings. The bullpen will probably come out early in this one, and it's going to be tough for three or four different pitchers to keep the red-hot Henderson in check.
Yu Darvish Over 7.5 Strikeouts
Darvish has 16 strikeouts in his last two games. In his last start, he struck out the aforementioned Blue Jays seven times in just 6.0 innings. Though Darvish has struggled with consistency this season, he has struck out at least five in six of his last seven games.
The Pirates are right in the middle of the league when it comes to striking out. So there is no real advantage there for Darvish. However, where the advantage comes into play is in past history. Though Darvish has only faced six current Pirates players in the past, he has struck them out 16 timers in 58 at-bats, and they only have a batting average of .155. This is a good matchup for Darvish.
