I was once again fooled by what I thought was the easiest pick of the day on Saturday, which quickly put a halt to another chance at a perfect 3-0 showing. Yordan Alvarez failed to reach his 7.0 hitter fantasy score mark, while both other player predictions I touted came through on the winning side. Bad beats, if you ask me. We have all 30 MLB teams in action on Sunday to close out the weekend providing another chance to hit it big on the PrizePicks front.

Logan Gilbert More Than 5.5 Pitcher Strikeouts

27-year-old right-handed Marines pitcher Logan Gilbert is headed to his first All-Star game in 2024, and for good reason. Gilbert has had a great start to his fourth professional season and currently holds a sub-3.00 ERA while ranking second in baseball in WHIP (0.90). He also has piled up 115 strikeouts across the first four months of the campaign.

He will be looking to close out the first half on a strong note. Gilbert will get a plus-matchup against the 40-55 Los Angeles Angels to do so. The Angels are a team that will punch out at the plate as much as anyone. They currently sit in the bottom half of the league in strikeouts in team rank. For his part, Gilbert has exceeded a 5.5 strikeout line in five of his last six starts. He should not have any trouble extending that streak with a good performance on Sunday afternoon.

Gunnar Henderson More Than 6.0 Hitter Fantasy Score

Gunnar Henderson has been in a bit of a slump of late that has allowed his hitter fantasy score line to drop significantly enough that it has arguably been overcorrected. A 6.0 line is almost always too low for a player of this caliber, especially considering the display of hitting the 23-year-old has put on for most of the campaign.

Despite this current "slump," Henderson has still managed to collect a hit in nine out of 11 July games played. He will have the benefit of hitting at Yankee Stadium on Sunday, always a perennial boost for left-handed hitters.

The challenge of the day for Henderson will be facing a left-handed hurler in Carlos Rodon, but Rodon is no longer the ace he was back in Chicago. The 31-year-old veteran currently ranks 65th in ERA with an elevated 4.63 number. He was already knocked around once by the Orioles back in May (4.0 innings, eight hits, six earned runs). Baltimore has lost the first two games of this series. They will need their superstar in Henderson to help pull them out of the skid. I'm betting on the kid to come through for them today.

Jake Burger Less Than 1.5 Total Bases

Jake Burger is coming off a crazy Saturday performance in which he finished 4-for-5 against the Reds with a homer and four RBIs. This quietly provides a great opportunity to hop on the other side of this player prediction line for Sunday, especially given the matchup.

Burger's splits against lefties are pretty putrid. He will be facing left-hander Nick Lodolo on Sunday afternoon. In 2024, Burger is "cooking" to the tune of just 16-for-87 (.184) with four extra-base hits and six RBI overall against southpaws.

In general, the 28-year-old does not hit for contact with only a .225 season average. He relies on his power for fantasy production. He's put just one ball out of the park against left-handers this year. He's now tasked with facing a revamped Lodolo, who is off to the best start of his career. The stars are not exactly lining up at the plate for Burger to have a productive conclusion to the weekend series.
