There are 14 MLB games scheduled for Friday. I like this slate a lot because some of my favorite pitchers to target are on tap. That means plenty of chances to cook up a few Same-Game Parlays (SGPs) to get some more bang for our collective buck.
Here are three of my favorite MLB Same-Game Parlays for Friday, August 16.

Friday's Best MLB Same Game Parlay Bets
Arizona Diamondbacks @ Tampa Bay Rays
- Leg 1: Ryan Pepiot Under 5.5 Strikeouts (-150)
- Leg 2: Ryne Nelson 5+ Strikeouts Thrown (-180)
- Leg 3: Jake McCarthy 1+ Hits (-190)
- Leg 4: Christopher Morel Under 1.5 Total Bases (-180)
Our first SGP for Friday takes us to Tampa Bay, where the Rays host the Arizona Diamondbacks in a battle of 1998 expansion teams. Ryan Pepiot returns from the injured list (IL) to start for the first time in just over a month. Let's start there concerning this SGP.
Earlier in the season, Pepiot missed just over two weeks with a leg injury. In his first game back, the Rays limited him to just 66 pitches. I would not be surprised to see Pepiot capped at about 80-85 pitches on Friday night. Since the All-Star break, Arizona has the fourth-lowest strikeout rate (18.5%) versus right-handed pitching. I am taking Pepiot to go under his 5.5-strikeout prop.
On the flip side, Rays hitters have the fourth-highest strikeout rate (25.5%) versus righties since the break. Ryne Nelson has found his strikeout pitch of late. Nelson has struck out 25 hitters over his last three starts. Five strikeouts seem like a very reasonable bar for Nelson to hit in this matchup.
Arizona's recent offensive surge has been led in part by Jake McCarthy. The speedy outfielder has 30 hits over his last 16 starts. I think McCarthy will find a way to keep it going and record at least one hit on Friday.
Finally, I am fading the ice-cold Christopher Morel and taking the under on his total bases prop. Morel is 3-for-40 in August and has failed to record two or more total bases in 11 straight games. He is 0-for-4 with two walks and two strikeouts lifetime versus Nelson.
As an alternative, you can bump Nelson's strikeouts to 6+ and remove any of the other three legs if there is one you are less confident about.

Los Angeles Dodgers @ St. Louis Cardinals
- Leg 1: Los Angeles Dodgers to Score First (-210)
- Leg 2: Shohei Ohtani 2+ Total Bases (-150)
- Leg 3: Freddie Freeman 2+ Total Bases (-125)
- Leg 4: Miles Mikolas Under 17.5 Outs (-115)
There are a couple of caveats with this next SGP, so bear with me.
Most sportsbooks have not yet listed pricing or props for the game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and St. Louis Cardinals. I presume this is because the Dodgers have yet to name their starting pitcher.
Once the news is confirmed and books put out their lines, you may be able to adjust this or find better pricing elsewhere. Having said that, I love this matchup for Los Angeles from an offensive standpoint.
Miles Mikolas has been awful over the past month. In his last five starts, he has allowed 20 earned runs while striking out just 14 hitters. He also has terrible historical numbers against the batters at the top of the Dodgers' lineup.
The trio of Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman have combined to go 14-for-29 with four home runs, four walks, and just two strikeouts lifetime against Mikolas. Because of that, I am betting on Los Angeles to score first in this game.
I am also taking both Ohtani (4-for-5 with a double versus Mikolas) and Freeman (8-for-17 with a double and three home runs) to go over their respective total base props. Betts (3-for-7 with a home run) is not listed. If you prefer Betts over either Ohtani or Freeman, I have no issue with that.
The final leg of this SGP is for Mikolas to go under his 17.5 outs number. This could get tricky because even when opponents hit Mikolas hard, he tends to last longer than most starters. He has gone over this number in 14 of his 24 starts. You can replace Mikolas under 17.5 outs with under 3.5 strikeouts if you'd like. However, I prefer the outs line because I think the Cardinals' recent schedule can be a factor here.
St. Louis had an off day this past Sunday as well as Thursday. They also have an upcoming off day on Monday. Their bullpen is very well-rested entering Friday's matchup. None of their top four relievers have pitched since Saturday. They also have three left-handed arms in their pen, so it would not shock me to see Mikolas get a quicker hook on Friday.

San Diego Padres @ Colorado Rockies
- Leg 1: San Diego Padres -1.5 Run Line (-115)
- Leg 2: Luis Arraez 2+ Alternate Hits (-125)
- Leg 3: David Peralta 2+ Total Bases (-125)
- Leg 4: Matt Waldron 4+ Alternate Strikeouts (-325)
The Colorado Rockies and Cal Quantrill host the San Diego Padres and Matt Waldron on Friday night. This is a pitching rematch from earlier this month when the Padres easily dispatched the Rockies 10-2 on August 2. Three of the four legs in my final SGP hit in that game, so let's see what might change and what might stay the same this time around.
It is no secret San Diego is the better team. They enter Friday's matchup 16 games ahead of Colorado. The Padres are also a National League-best 36-24 on the road. I am playing them on the run line at -1.5.
Luis Arraez and David Peralta enter this game swinging hot bats. Arraez has recorded multi-hit outings in five of his last seven games. He has a prime opportunity to keep that going on Friday in Coors Field against Quantrill, who is a pitch-to-contact artist.
Peralta has started seven straight games in a stretch where San Diego has exclusively faced right-handed starters. The veteran has been up to the task, registering 11 hits. Six of those have gone for extra bases. Peralta is 3-for-5 lifetime against Quantrill and has 116 total bases in 221 career plate appearances in Coors Field.
Even if Quantrill can somehow limit the damage Arraez and Peralta inflict, we have outs against the Rockies’ league-worst bullpen. Rockie relievers have allowed opponents to hit at a .287 clip this year. No other relief corps has allowed a batting average above .260.
My last leg is for Padres starter Matt Waldron to have at least four strikeouts on Friday. Waldron struck out seven Rockies on August 2. He has struck out four or more hitters in five straight starts and 19 out of 24 this season. Colorado batters have a 25.4% strikeout rate at home versus right-handed pitching since the All-Star break.
The best current price for this SGP is +445 at Fanatics Sportsbook. It is also +440 on DraftKings Sportsbook. I would not be surprised to see BetRivers or ESPN beat both of these prices once they release their lines in the morning.
