MLB Same Game Parlay Odds, Picks & Predictions: Friday (9/16)

Justin Verlander

As the regular season dwindles down, there are still a couple of exciting races. The National League East is the tightest divisional race, and today their ace Max Fried will try to keep them close as they’re just a game and a half, but their opponents, the Phillies, hold a slim lead in one of the Wild Card spots.

Kansas City Royals vs. Boston Red Sox

  • Leg 1: Red Sox -1.5 (-102)
  • Leg 2: Under 9.5 (-120)
  • Leg 3: Michael Wacha over 4.5 strikeouts (-138)

Michael Wacha is having an incredible year for an underachieving Red Sox team. He has not lost a start since May 31st and has won eight straight decisions with a 2.85 ERA. The ninth straight win is possibly going against a Royals lineup that's the third worst in average (.219) and +WRC (80) since August 15th.

It's not been a good year for the sophomore Jonathan Heasley. An IL stint and inefficiencies have had him getting called up and sent down a couple of times this season. He's coming off one of his worse starts against the below-average Tigers lineup, tying a season-high seven earned in the loss.

The Red Sox offense has been inconsistent throughout the year, but they've recently been one of the best offenses in baseball, with a .287 average and .351 OBP since August 15th.

Oakland Athletics vs. Houston Astros

  • Leg 1: Astros -2.5 (+100)
  • Leg 2: Yordan Alvarez to record 2+ hits  (-120)
  • Leg 3: Justin Verlander over 5.5 strikeouts (+104)

Justin Verlander will make his first start after an IL stint due to a calf strain. Although he hasn't pitched since August 28th, he is still the favorite to win the American League Cy Young, according to Vegas Insider. He's got an excellent chance to build on that lead against an Athletics lineup he's pitched well against this season, including going six shutout innings and striking out ten in the win.

Adrian Martinez has been getting spot starts throughout the year for Oakland, and he's been good in a few starts and awful in others. He's coming off his worst start, allowing 14 hits and seven earned ink just 3.2 innings against the White Sox.

Facing a tough Houston lineup when you know you have to be nearly perfect with Verlander on the other side is almost impossible.

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Atlanta Braves

  • Leg 1: Braves ML (+100)
  • Leg 2: J.T. Realmuto to record 2+ hits  (+130)
  • Leg 3: Ranger Suarez over 4.5 strikeouts (-128)

Although Max Fried has an outside shot of being the National League Cy Young, he's still been the ace of this excellent Braves starting rotation. Although he hasn't factored into a decision against the Phillies, he's pitched well with two quality starts and has struck out 13 in 12 innings.

Ranger Suarez has not pitched well recently, with a 5.41 ERA in his last four starts. He also hasn't pitched well against the Braves this going 0-2 and has allowed nine earned in 16 innings this season.
