San Francisco Giants @ Pittsburgh Pirates MLB Same Game Parlay

Martin Perez will get the call for the Pirates. He’s a left-handed pitcher, with only 18.2% of strikeouts this season. Perez has limited walks well, but he’s still allowed a .177 ISO and wOBA of .362 to his first 220 batters this season. Righties have even hit 33.6% of line drives against him, with only 36.9% of ground balls.

That said, Perez is expected to face a Giants lineup with only righties. The projected lineup has struck out just 12.1% of the time and has no targets that have struck out more than 22.2%. In addition, Jorge Soler should bat at the top of the lineup. He’s hit a .216 ISO and wOBA of .379 against lefties this season.

On the other hand, Logan Webb will pitch for the Giants. He’s seen his strikeout rate dip from last year, but he’s still held teams to a .078 ISO and wOBA of .298 thanks to 57.8% of grounders. Webb has allowed just 14.6% of fly balls and has walked just 6.4% of batters. These stats matter because if he can continue this kind of success, he’ll pitch deeper into the game and face more batters to get more strikeouts.

That said, he’ll face a Pirates lineup that has struck out 23.5% of the time against righties this season. Every batter in the lineup but one has struck out at least 20.2% of the time against righties. Webb has enough targets to reach five strikeouts tonight.

Milwaukee Brewers @ Miami Marlins MLB Same Game Parlay

The Miami Marlins will roll with lefty pitcher Trevor Rogers. While he’s allowed a .196 ISO and woBA of .377, he’s still struck out 18.6% of batters to begin the season.

Rogers will take on a Brewers lineup that has struck out 28.7% of the time against lefties this year. Only Willy Adames, Gary Sanchez and Brice Turang have struck out under 23.3% of the time. The other six batters have struck out at a high rate against lefties. Therefore, I like Rogers’ chances to have a high-strikeout total night.

That said, Rogers has still allowed a .244 ISO and wOBA of .386 to lefties as a lefty. He won’t have the easiest matchup against Christian Yelich, a lefty. Yelich has hit a .462 ISO and wOBA of .604 against lefties to begin the season. He hasn’t faced them much, but he’s hit for insane power against them so far. That said, if he faces Rogers twice, he could end up with one strikeout and one extra-base hit. Yelich has struck out 28.6% of the time against lefties this year.

On the other hand, Robert Gasser will pitch for the Brewers. He’s been tremendous, except he’s only struck out 6.2% of righties to begin his MLB career.

Gasser has faced 32 righties this season and has done exceptionally well but can’t earn strikeouts against them. He’ll be in line to face mostly righties in tonight’s Marlins lineup. Those righties have struck out 21.4% of the time against lefties. Asking for five strikeouts is a little much.
