MLB Same Game Parlay Odds, Picks & Predictions: Wednesday (4/19)

This Wednesday is a full slate of 15 games with a good percentage of them starting early so make sure you check game times before placing your bets. Overall, while it may not seem this way from watching box scores some of the early offensive metrics are falling slightly over the last week. We can try to use this knowledge to help better choose our bets.

Cleveland Guardians at Detroit Tigers

  • Leg 1: Under 8.5 Runs (-115)
  • Leg 2: Cal Quantrill 5+ Strikeouts (-160)
  • Leg 3: Kerry Carpenter 2+ Total Bases (+170)

Cal Quantrill and Spencer Turnbull are both solid arms who can typically limit walks and allow few baserunners. They both also get to face well below-average offenses. These two pitchers should be able to continue to keep the offenses at bay.

Quantrill is by no means a strikeout artist but this is mostly a bet on the side of the poor Tigers’ offense. The Tigers have a K rate over 25% on the season which is good for the fourth-worst number in baseball. This all lines up well to get Quantrill to hit this number.

Carpenter has been one of the Tigers’ best hitters and won Game 1 yesterday with a walk-off homer. The left-hander hits in the middle of the order against righties and he has a 0.310 ISO early on in the season. Quantrill is a fantastic matchup for the power hitter.

Combined Odds: +750

Chicago Cubs at Oakland Athletics

  • Leg 1: Over 8.5 Total Runs (+120)
  • Leg 2: Cubs ML (-165)
  • Leg 3: Ian Happ Total Bases 2+ (+145)

This is me throwing a bit of cold water on the Mason Miller debut. Miller has electric stuff and is one of the most exciting pitching prospects in baseball but he has thrown under 30 professional innings and is likely to be limited to less than five in this one. That means more of the Athletics bullpen which is a good thing for run-scoring as they have the 4th worst bullpen ERA.

Taking the Cubs moneyline runs along the same lines as the first leg since I anticipate them scoring a significant amount of runs and thus will be more likely to win the game.

Happ has quietly become one of the better hitters in all of baseball. His high average is buoyed by a high BABIP early into this season but he has real power and in a game where I anticipate lots of runs scored he should be right in the middle of it.

Combined Odds: +475

Los Angeles Angels at New York Yankees

  • Leg 1: New York Yankees -1.5 (+145)
  • Leg 2: Franchy Cordero 2+ Total Bases (+230)
  • Leg 3: Yankees Over 4.5 Runs (-110)

Jhony Brito is making his first start after giving up nine runs in less than one inning last time out. He was excellent prior to that start. He should get back on track today while the Yankees’ offense gets to play some of its hottest hitters against a right-handed starter.

Speaking of the “hottest” hitters, Cordero has been one of the Yankees’ best hitters in the early part of this season. The lefty is still striking out a ton but the power is legit and with the short porch in Yankee Stadium he is a match made in heaven for the park.

While Canning was solid in his first start, his MLB career has been a mixed bag. His issues have mostly stemmed from too many walks and too many home runs. The Yankees’ offense is full of power hitters who are willing to take their walks which makes them a tough matchup for Canning.

Combined Odds: +575
